ADVISE for major version UPGRADE
http://www.postgresql.org/support/versioning/

Major releases usually change the internal format of system tables
and data files. These changes are often complex, so we do not maintain
backward compatibility of all stored data. A dump/reload of the
database or use of the pg_upgrade module is required for major upgrades.

DESCRIPTION
PostgreSQL is a powerful, open source object-relational database system.
It has a proven architecture that has earned it a strong reputation for
reliability, data integrity, and correctness.
It is fully ACID compliant, has full support for foreign keys, joins, views,
triggers, and stored procedures (in multiple languages).
It includes most SQL:2008 data types

Updated: experimental package: gcc4-4.7.2-2

I have just uploaded an updated GCC-4 package to cygwin.com. It will be
arriving at your favourite mirror next time it synchronizes itself with the
official Cygwin repository.

This is a test release of GCC 4.7.2 which replaces the earlier
test release. It reverts the package dependencies in the Cygwin repository to
those that are correct for the current full version of GCC, 4.5.3-3, as
setup.exe can only support one set of dependencies for all versions of a
package. This means you may need to select some of the new packages manually,
depending on the set of languages you are installing; see the "important note"
section in "From the README" below.

In addition, this release restores libffi and java which were unavailable
from the previous test version.

It also makes linking against shared libgcc the default for executables as
well as DLLs, which is necessary for correct sharing of thread-local variables
imported by executables from DLLs.

I would like to express my gratitude to JonY for stepping into the breach
caused by my absence from the Cygwin community and releasing the first test
version of GCC 4.7 series. He did a very difficult job and did it well and
deserves the highest of praise for doing so.

OBTAINING THE RELEASE
=

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the
http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Then,
run setup.exe, fill in all of the options, and make appropriate choices on the
"Select Packages" screen. Because this is a "test" version release, you will
need to manually select any packages and dependent libraries you require: see
below for full details.

NEWS

> > From the README:

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DEPENDENCIES AND RUNTIME LIBRARIES
===

Cygwin's setup.exe does not handle a situation where an experimental package
version has different dependencies from the main current version. For this
reason, the dependencies listed in the Cygwin package repository are those
required by the mainstream (4.5.3-3) release of Cygwin GCC, as those will be
correct for the majority of users. Anyone wishing to install the test version
of GCC will need to ensure they select manually select the corresponding new
versions of the runtime libraries required. These dependencies are:

gcc4-java: Requires libgcj13.
gcc4-objc: Requires libobjc4.
gcc4-ada: Requires libgnat4.7.
gcc4-fortran: Requires libquadmath0, libquadmath0-devel.
libgfortran3: Requires libquadmath0.
