Updated: Git v2.4.5-2

2015-07-31 Thread Adam Dinwoodie
Version 2.4.5-2 of Git has been uploaded and should be coming soon to a
mirror near you. This update includes the following packages:

-   git
-   git-completion
-   git-cvs
-   git-debuginfo
-   git-email
-   git-gui
-   gitk
-   git-svn

This update contains no upstream changes; it is a rebuild linked against
the recently announced perl-5.22.0-1 as announced at
https://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2015-07/msg00476.html

Once the new Perl builds have been out a little while and appear to be
stable, I will look at taking further upstream Git releases.

Updated: clisp-2.49-5.20150312hg15611

2015-07-31 Thread Ken Brown

The following packages have been updated in the Cygwin distribution:

* clisp-2.49-5.20150312hg15611

* clisp-clx-2.49-5.20150312hg15611 (32-bit only)
* clisp-gtk2-2.49-5.20150312hg15611 (32-bit only)

This is a rebuild of the 2.49-4.20150312hg15611 packages, the main change being
that the 64-bit build now uses libsigsegv, which was recently added to the
64-bit distribution. In addition, I have patched the sources so that clisp will
not attempt to save an executable memory image on Cygwin; see
https://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-apps/2015-03/msg00188.html.

For further information, see the announcement

Updated: biber-2.1-1

2015-07-31 Thread Ken Brown

The following package has been updated in the Cygwin distribution:

* biber-2.1-1

Biber is a BibTeX replacement for users of BibLaTeX, with full Unicode support.

This is an update to the latest upstream release. It is the first release of
biber as a standalone package on 32-bit Cygwin. The main executable is
/usr/bin/biber, which is a Perl script; in the 32-bit case it replaces
/usr/bin/biber.exe, which used to be provided by the
texlive-collection-bibtexextra package.

Updated: TeX Live 2015

2015-07-31 Thread Ken Brown
Cygwin's TeX Live packages have been updated to the latest upstream release, TeX
Live 2015.

TeX Live provides a comprehensive, cross-platform TeX system. It includes all
the major TeX-related programs, macro packages, and fonts that are free
software, including support for many languages around the world. For more
information, see

  http://www.tug.org/texlive/

The TeX Live executables and supporting libraries are contained in the following
Cygwin packages:

* texlive-20150521-1

* libkpathsea6-20150521-1
* libkpathsea-devel-20150521-1

libkpathsea is a TeX file and path search library.

* libptexenc1-20150521-1
* libptexenc-devel-20150521-1

libptexenc is a TeX Unicode encoding library.

* libsync1-20150521-1
* libsync-devel-20150521-1

libsync is a TeX source/output synchronization library.

* libtexlua52_5-20150521-1
* libtexlua52-devel-20150521-1

libtexlua52 is a TeX lua scripting library.

* libtexluajit2-20150521-1 (x86 only)
* libtexluajit-devel-20150521-1 (x86 only)

libtexluajit is a TeX Just-In-Time lua compiler library.

libsync, libtexlua52, and libtexluajit are new (as standalone libraries) with
TeX Live 2015.

* asymptote-2.35-1

Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for technical
drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like syntax. Asymptote
provides for figures the same high-quality typesetting that LaTeX does for
scientific text.

In addition, upstream TeX Live provides thousands of "packages", grouped into
"collections". There is a Cygwin package for each upstream collection; there
are also Cygwin packages containing documentation for some of the collections.

* texlive-collection-basic-20150617-1
* texlive-collection-basic-doc-20150521-1

Recommendations
===
Most people do not need the full TeX Live installation, which is huge and can
take a long time to install. If you're not sure what you need, here are some
possible ways to start:

Minimal: Install texlive and its dependencies. This provides plain TeX but not
LaTeX.

Small: Install texlive-collection-latex and

Updated: perl-5.22.0-1 and all Perl distributions

2015-07-31 Thread Achim Gratz

Perl has been updated to the current upstream release version 5.22.0 for
Cygwin on both architectures. This version (like all major version
updates) is binary incompatible with XS modules and applications linked
against the Perl DLL, these will have to be rebuilt using the new Perl.
Due to the large version jump (from 5.14.4), there are lots of
user-visible changes and deprecations. To learn about these, please
consult:

5.22.0
http://perldoc.perl.org/perl5220delta.html

5.20.0
http://perldoc.perl.org/perl5200delta.html

5.18.0
http://perldoc.perl.org/perl5180delta.html

5.16.0
http://perldoc.perl.org/perl5160delta.html

The next Perl release 5.22.1 (a maintenance release) is expected
somewhere in September at the moment.

*** IMPORTANT ***

Due to the large version jump (from 5.14.4), all Perl distributions and
packages using Perl under the hood needed to be updated as well. Five
packages still need to be updated for the new Perl: amanda, ming,
pristine-tar, grepmail and sendxmpp. If you are using one of those
pakcages, please wait with the Perl update until these have been updated
as well.

Updated: maxima-5.36.0-3

2015-07-31 Thread Achim Gratz

This is the third build of a new upstream release due to an updated
clisp executable. I'm promoting version 5.36.0 from test to currentat
the same time.

Maxima - Computer Algebra System

Maxima is a system for the manipulation of symbolic and numerical
expressions, including differentiation, integration, Taylor series,
Laplace transforms, ordinary differential equations, systems of linear
equations, polynomials, sets, lists, vectors, matrices and
tensors. Maxima yields high precision numerical results by using exact
fractions, arbitrary-precision integers and variable-precision
floating-point numbers. Maxima can plot functions and data in two and
three dimensions.

Maxima is written in CommonLisp and based on the DOE Macsyma that was
developed at MIT.

Packaging
=

The installation has been split into several packages:

maxima- common components and documentation,
execution on pre-compiled clisp (memory image)
maxima-lang-* - localization for several languages
maxima-xmaxima- a Tcl/Tk based GUI

The maxima-exec-clisp package has been revoked due to problems with the
way CLisp creates the executable. Loading a memory image instead has
proved to make no difference in start-up time at least on a system with
a fast disk, so no disadvantage should result for the user.

DESCRIPTION
LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing
