Hi

I did install cygwin and Grass on windows XP at the weekend and

deleted .bashrc file in C:\cygwin\home\setup and the file is not in my

Can someone advise how i can get it back from the downloaded install files.
I was installing Grass 6.2.1 Win/Grass with cygwin. i used the latest
cygwin

download from the setup program.

Also would like to know to edit it as i know very little about unix.

Thanks in Advance

First off, you accidentally emailed this to the wrong list.

Second off, honestly if it wasn't produced when you first started cygwin
up and you didn't back it up, then you are (unfortunately) at fault for
your own file deletion. AFAIK there isn't any way to get it back.

Subject: High CPU usage with Cygwin-x11 under xp-x64

Hello,
I have an issue with XP-64 where it consistently
completely uses up one
of my core's CPU resources after a period of time. This
varies from 1-12
hours from what I've seen, but it always occurs when I close
all xterm
windows, and the server is still running the in background. I
can't kill
the X11 server via the right click tray menu, but instead
have to kill
it via task manager.

More information:

System has the following specs:
-Windows XP (x64) fully patched
-Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 CPU
-ATI Radeon x1650 Pro with latest drivers
-4GB RAM

Cygwin and xorg-x11 are fully up to date as of today, and I
tried using
both -multiwindow and -rootless with usr\X11R6\bin\startxwin.bat, but
Cygwin-X11 showed the same behavior, and nearly froze my system.

I wish I could attach a log of some kind, but apparently this
version of
X11 isn't setup to log to /var/log/Xorg.0.log automatically.

Any help is much appreciated as I greatly prefer xterms over Cygwin
running in dinky, lame DOS CMD windows.

Hi this is but a guess. Are you possibly running some firewall other
then windows standard? If so try unisnstalling it. Reboot and test. I
had a similar problem on one computer and traced it down to
Sunbelt/Kerio personal firewall.

Good Luck

Actually, I don't run a firewall on this machine because I'm behind a
router.

I do have McAfee VScan 8.5 setup though..

Thanks!

Oh yes, I forgot to mention I have the nested and virtual frame buffer
versions of xorg-server installed.
