policies or actions during the period between January 1, 1929 and December 31, 1945,

RE: PDPR: Claiming its Place in the $2 Billion Prosthetics Industry uesh bdqufrkp ewc

2003-11-18 Thread Mike

FOR IMEDIATE RELEASE

PDPR: Claiming its Place in the $2 Billion
Prosthetics Industry

A NEW public Company specializing in the
National needs of Infant-Pediatric
Prosthetics

The national prosthetics
industry is estimated at nearly $2 billion annually and is extremely fragmented.
In this fragmentation, PDPR
has developed a strong niche by focusing on the infant-pediatric prosthetics
segment. This segment requires specialized expertise to meet the needs of these
babies and their families.

PDPR is the only
infant-pediatric prosthetics company focusing on the unique needs of these
babies born with a limb loss.

If a child lost an arm in
an accident, the entire national medical community would go into high gear.
They do everything to try to quickly replace the loss. PDPR knows that accidents happen before birth too.
One tiny fiber, designed to support the fetus in the mother's womb, sometimes
breaks, and somehow loops around the baby's tiny little arm or leg, and keeps
it from developing. Sometimes an unknowable and unfortunate combination of
genes can cause the loss.

These losses have created a
need in the industry that must be filled to enable these infants the best
chance to develop.

PDPR MANAGEMENT
The management team
of PDPR is nationally
recognized as the leading prosthetists in the infant-pediatric prosthetics field.
PDRP's management has
recently been featured in, "Orthotics
& Prosthetics Business News", written up in "Life Magazine", and some of the
fitted children have appeared on national
TV shows, including "Good Morning America", "Maury Povich",
"Phil Donahue", and "20-20".

MARKET NICHE
Children ages 4 to 14 comprise of 5% of the total $2 billion prosthetic market,
$100 million. The vast majority of this 5% pediatric prosthetic market derives from babies born
with a limb loss.

There are approximately 145,000 first time amputations each year. Of these
145,000 first time amputations, less than 1% or approximately 1,000 babies are
born with a limb loss. PDPR is the only infant-pediatric prosthetics company focusing on these
unique needs today.

REVENUE
POETNTIAL
By focusing on the infant-pediatric need, PDPR will generate a consistent revenue
stream by servicing their clients from childhood to adulthood. This "annuity effect"
should compound earnings year after year and enable PDPR to enjoy stable
growth.

The economic cost from infancy to adulthood is anticipated to be over $200,000
for a below elbow amputee. Adults will spend an additional $200,000 on their
artificial arms. Revenue growth is directly correlated with the physical growth
of the children.

FINAL
CONSIDERATIONS
The PDPR
management team is nationally recognized and without question the leading prosthetists in the infant-pediatric prosthetics field.

PDPR has developed a
strong niche in the nearly $2 billion a year industry by addressing the
specialized infant-pediatric need.

PDPR is the only
company specializing in the National needs of the Infant-Pediatric Prosthetics

By targeting the infant-pediatric need, PDPR will generate a
consistent revenue stream by servicing their clients from childhood to
adulthood. This
"annuity effect" should compound earnings year after year and enable PDPR to
enjoy stable growth.

URGENT BUSINESS ASISSTANCE NEEDED.

2003-10-26 Thread MR. MIKE KALAMA
Dear friend,

You may be surprise to receive this letter from me,since you dont know me personally,I
am Mr.Mike The son of Dr. Christopher Kalama, Who was recently killed in the land
reform dispute in Zimbabwe. I got your contact as i was searching for a reliable and
reputable person to handle a very confidential business which involve the claiming and
transfering of fund into a foreign account for safe keeping and further investment.

My father was among the few black Zimbabwean opposition party rich farmers who were
against President Robert Mugabe's land reform policies against the white farmers in
Zimbabwe. For his alleged support and sympathy for the Zimbabwean opposition party
controlled by the white minority farmers. Before my father was killed,he was a
successful farmer in support of his white
colleagues .He had taken to South Africa and deposited the sum of Eight.five Million
United State dollars(US$8.5million) with a security/finance company as he forseen the
looming danger in zimbabwe. This is to avoid it been confiscated by President Robert
Mugabe and ruling party.

This money was allocated for the purchase of new machinery and chemical product for
Agro-allied farms and for establishment of new farms in lesotho and swaziland. This
land problems arose when President Robert mugabe introduced a new land act that wholly
affected the rich white farmers. Some blacks vehemently condemned !the "modus operandi"
adopted by the government. This result to rampant killings and mob action by the war
veterans and some political thugs, precisely more than three thousands( 3,000) people
have so far been killed.Heads of government from the west, especially Britain and
United States have voice their condemnation of Mugabe's plans.Currently, the money has
been transfer to Europe via diplomatic process, due to current escalation of the
problem in Zimbabwe to avoid it been confiscated.

Hence,South Africa Development Community (S.A.D.C) has continously supported Mugabe's
new land act. This is the reason why we decided to transfer this fund to Europe and
flee out of the South Africa where we were living since this problem started to
another neighbouring country in Africa.I am faced with the dilemma of keeping and
investing of this money in whole of Africa for fear of encountering the same
experience in the future or confiscation of all that belong to my family by these
African leaders.

Since all countries in Africa have almost the same political tie.Hence,my family and i
are currently on excile in a neighbouring country in Africa. Well, all i demand from
you is to be ourrepresentative/beneficiary to make claim of this fund, which is
currently deposited in the security company's custody in Europe.

I will also inform you that a transaction of this magnitude is risk free and or mutual
benefit. For your assistance of claiming and safeguarding the money,we are offering you
20% of the sum ,75% for me and my family, while 5% will be mapped out for any expenses
that we may incurre during this transaction. We wish to offer you 20% of annual
turnover of any investment you wish to invest this money when it finally gets into
your propose account, for a period of ten consecutive years.

Finally, i will demand for assurance that you will not sit on the money when it gets
to your personal account or company's account, If this proposal is accepted please
confirm your interest by sending me an email and providing your full name, address, tel
and fax numbers to enable me introduce you to the security company in Europe where the
money is currently deposited as my beneficiary/partner.

Thanking you in anticipation of your urgent response as soon as you read this request.

Best Regards,

Mr.Mike Kalama

Dear Sir,

My Name is Mr. Jude Estrada son of the disposed Philipino president Mr. Joseph
Estrada. I am writing this letter to you from where I am currently seeking asylum. I
know you are aware of my father's situation right back home under the rule of Gloria
Arroyo. My father confidently gave me documents relating to a certain deposit of
United States dollars in a Swiss bank. Since January this year I have been in constant
contact with the bank and they have confirmed the existence of the deposit also the
account officer asked me to look for an Investor whom will help me Invest the money.
Thus the reason of my writing you this sudden mail. My mother asked me a week ago to
go ahead and look for reputable company/individual that can take over the deposit and
help us invest the money in your country, which has a more stable economy.

 ACTION PLAN

My Mother asked me to introduce an investor who will take over the deposit since I am
not ready to carryout the transaction by myself due to the political situation in
manila. All I will do is to introduce you to the Bank so that you can discuss with the
bank the best way to transfer the money to you for investments purposes. Both parties
will sign an agreement before the real investment commences. Please contact me on
receipt of this proposal via Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or fax to 12533903374 to
indicate your interest to take part in the transaction. It is important that you know
also that my family has also promised to give up to 25% of the total for the much
needed assistance. I will send to you upon request a copy of my International passport
so that you will be sure of whom you are dealing with. This proposal is for you only
and should not be discussed with any body apart from your business associate whom you
trust very well.

 Awaiting your response.

ASSISTANCE

2003-10-23 Thread MIKE DUKU

 Dear friend,

This letter may come to you as a surprise due to the fact that we have not yet met,
but kindly consider the message, because, I am determined to live for posterity.
I wish to plead with you to join me in not only serving humanity, but to also benefit
in the process. This message could be strange but reality will definitely dawn on you,
if you pay some attention to its contents. Please accept my sincere apologies in
bringing this message to you; I have to say that I do not intend to cause you any
personal pains or discomfort.
I am Mr.Mike Duku, former Special Assistant to the Liberian President, Mr.charles
Taylor who just stepped down from the office of the President due to rebel's
insurgency who wants to overthrow his government. President Charles Taylor in his
bid to fend-off rebel insurgency, and since he could no longer trust the army
generals, confidentially put in my care,
the sum of $30,000,000.00 (Thirty million United States dollars) in one instance for
the purpose of purchasing arms and ammunitions should the need arise. However,
unfortunately, the need did not arise as he has gone on exile. I deposited the US$30
million in a trunk box in a secret location and just the two of us knew about it, and
I could not get in touch with any arms dealer before the President was indicted in a
war crime tribunal set up by the United Nations (UN). I have since held on to this
trunk box, which I was able to transport out of Liberia with the aid of peace keeping
soldiers under the guise of conveying my personal effects without anybody knowing, to
a security deposit company. I am presently in Africa, where I now work as a
consultant on inter-regional co-operation. I have borne the burden for too long. I do
not want to keep the funds any longer, but I can never turn it over to the brutal and
tyrannical rogue regime of Mr. Charles Taylor who is still committing all sorts of
atrocities on the Liberian people. I am not soliciting for your help to wage a war
against the regime, but to act as a foreign partner, to allow me transfer the funds to
you, which you will in turn donate a portion of it as a humanitarian gesture to the
Liberian people by purchasing such essential needs like blankets, milk and so on,
water-pumping machines and agricultural equipment, from the money after deducting your
expenses and the commission of 25%. Please note that I could have approached the Red
Cross Society, but I changed my mind on that after calculating what they would deduct
as commission, and also, after rationalizing the scandal that followed their
mismanagement of the donations meant for the victims of the September 11th attack on
the United States.
Also, note that this offer will give you a double-edged advantage:
 1. As the benefactor of the Liberian people and;
 2. The commission you stand to earn.
On getting a positive response from you, I will send to you the secret access codes
to the funds and the security and vault company. Please note that confidentiality and
honesty are fundamental rules in this transaction. Be assured that I am a reputable
personality in this country and I am mindful of the legal implications of this
transaction, as I intend taking care of all the legal documentations for a successful
and hitch-free transaction. You will be expected to take delivery of this fund
personally from the deposit company in Europe.
I am therefore soliciting your assistance to have this money collected by you and/or
facilitate the transfer into your nominated account(s). ***PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR
CONFIDENTIALITY IN THIS TRANSACTION IS HIGHLY REQUIRED.
I will give you the details of this transaction on receipt of your response to this
proposal. Thank you very much for your time and understanding.
Yours sincerely.

2003-10-06 Thread MIKE OTI
Dear sir

We wish to solicit your assistance to provide us with a solution to a money transfer
offiftten Million United States Dollars. Our duty is to review all contracts awarded
to foreign firms/contractors from the Ministry of Petroleum from 1993 to May 28th 1999.

It may interest you to know that most of the contracts awarded were over invoiced or
inflated. One of such contracts has been identified. The said contract was originally
executed by an Italian based firm in (1996), to supply 250,000-monax turbine
polypropylene plant sand
150,000 bpsd for Kaduna refinery. Pipeline reconstruction and computer
optimization for plants "A" to Kaduna refinery, as part of the measure taken to aid
the turn around maintenance to recoup the almost collapsed refineries in Nigeria.

The total amount approved by the then Military Government was put at
$125,000.000. 00M USD. The actual amount used for executing the contract was estimated
to be 100,000.000.00M USD, which has since been paid to the foreign contractor. The
remaining $25,000.000.00M USD was inflated. The over inflated amount is lying in one
of the country's apex bank escrow account, waiting to be dispatched to a designated
bank account. More information shall be made known to you upon the positive
confirmation from your good self that you are willing to assist us in the completion
of the understated proposal. What we want from you now, is to provide a safe account
where the inflated amount will be transferred. Secondly, we need the name of your
choice company and address- Tel/fax numbers.

By doing so, your company will be created as artificial contractor and thus can lay
claim to the inflated amount. My colleagues and I have agreed to compensate the owner
of the account used for this transaction with 25% of the total amount remitted. We
shall keep 65% and 10% will be reserved for taxes and other miscellaneous expenses. We
intend to consummate this transaction within the shortest possible time based on your
cooperation and support.

CHANCES: The chances of success is sure, having succeeded in moving US$5M to an
account in Hong Kong, save for the mischief of the account owner; we would have been
through with this project. Besides, we have the support of colleagues from other
renowned Government departments. Our chances of success are as good as gold. ADVICE:
This project demands mutual support, commitment, confidentiality and trust. Delay is
dangerous. Therefore, we desire consistent and purposeful participation as we thread
the part of greatness. Confidentiality is our watchword, mutual trust is our beacon.

Endeavor to remain in steady contact and send me your personal phone and fax no for
easier communication and further clarification. I honestly assure you that this
transaction is 100%risk-free.

BEST REGARDS,

MIKE OTI.

URGENT BUSINESS PROPOSAL

2003-08-21 Thread BARRISTER MIKE OLOWO
From: Barrister Mike Olowo Esq.
Olowo & Co
Attorneys/Legal Practitioner
Nigeria.

Dear Friend,

Compliments of the season. Grace and peace and love from this part of the
Atlantic to you. I hope my letter does not cause you too much embarrassment
excuse my intrusion into your private life.

I am Barrister Mike Olowo Esq. I represent Mohammed Abacha, son of the Late
Gen. Sani Abacha, who was the former military head of state in Nigeria. He
died in 1998. Since his death, the family has been losing a lot of money
due to vindictive government officials who are bent on dealing with the
family. Based on this therefore, the family has asked me to seek for a foreign
partner who can work with us as to move out the total sum of us$75,000,000.00(seventy
five million united states dollars), presently in their possession.

This money was of course, acquired by the late president and is now kept
secretly by the family. The Swiss government has already frozen all the accounts
of the family in Switzerland, and some other countries would soon follow
to do the same.

This bid by some government officials to deal with this family has made
it necessary that we seek your assistance in receiving this money and in
investing it on behalf of the family. This must be a joint venture transaction
and we must all work together. Since this money is still cash, extra
securitymeasures have been taken to protect it from theft or seizure, pending
when agreement is reached on when and how to move it into any of your nominated
bank accounts.

I have personally worked out all modalities for the peaceful conclusion
of this transaction. The transaction definitely would be handled in phases
and the first phase will involve the moving of US$25,000,000.00 (twenty
five million united states dollars). My clients are willing to give you
a reasonable percentage of this money as soon as the transaction is concluded.I
will, however, based on the grounds that you are willing to work with
us and also all contentious issues discussed before the commencement of
this transaction. You may also discuss your percentage before we start to
work.

As soon as I hear from you, I will give you all necessary details as to
how we intend to carry out the whole transaction. Please, do not entertain
any fears, as all necessary modalities are in place, and I assure you of
all success and safety in this transaction. Please, this transaction requires
absolute confidentiality and you would be expected to treat it as such
until the funds are moved out of this country. Please, you will also ignore
this letter and respect our trust in you by not exposing this transaction, even
if you are not interested.

I look forward to working with you. Thank you.

Truly yours,

Barrister Mike Olowo Esq.

If the IV is not a secret how are we going to prevent

I think there's a lot in the game to that. He *will* resign,

That has nothing to do with it. The pentagon had a choice, fire
Poindexter or lose all of DARPA. DARPA has a lot of cool programs that
are too important to lose, and Poindexter was giving them bad publicity.

rid themselves of Poindexter and save everything else. Even Rumsfeld can

Part of it is because they don't have the resources, and part of it is
because they don't need to control _people_ when they can just gain wealth
instead. that may have something to do with mutual respect. I suspect

It has more to do with the desire to own *more* stuff. Bigger houses with
3 cars and full of wireless computers. It has nothing to do with
government propaganda and everything to do with corporate propaganda.
It's a self full filling economic system, the more people want, the more
people work to create things that more people want!

The insaniity is self inflicted. The French take off the whole month of
August and Americans think they are insane. The French know how to relax!
They also live in smaller houses, only own 1 car per family and eat better
food. If you want to live in a 5000 ft^2 house, you need 2 adults working
full time to make "ends meet". If you live in a 1000 ft^2 house, one
adult can make the payments with one full time job.

If you are going to compare then and now, take reality into account.

Compliments

2003-07-25 Thread Mike Chukwu
Dear Sir,
Mysteries has gone in my life, and Life for me has gone in lifeline the
western part of Africa is where I meet a hell in my life. 22nd August
2002, later in the night the murderers came without pity, without mercy
they kill my father in front of me.
My father was a wealthy farmer. A rice merchant to be precise. The trouble
began early the previous year when my father's associates
started suspecting that my father is not giving proper
accounts of all the tons of rice being cultivated by
local farmers in some villages. This mistrust deepens
between November-December 2002 when they discovered a very big
some of money [approximately $6.4m] my father deposited with a security
company here in Lagos, Nigeria.
As a result of this discovery and the envies of the
money, he was killed by his associates. Before this, he
revealed to me the reasons of his being hated. He
directed me where to get the documents of the said
deposit. He told me that he enrolled my name as his
next of kin for the deposit, being the only child. He
advised me that I should not stay in the country
because his enemies might equally kill me to reap all
his wealth but I refused hence my mother died five years ago of
cancer.
He instructed me that if he dies, that I should look
for a foreign partner who will help me to transfer the
money into the person's account and the person will
help me to invest the money in his or her country. My
father was killed on 22nd of February 2003 and since
then
I was out of school and went into hiding because of my
father's associates.
All the relevant documents of the $6.4m[six million four hundred thousand
dollars] that was deposited in a
security company are intact with me now.
My name is Mike Chukwu. I am 27yrs old and a student.
Please I would like you to assist me as urgent as you
can before they kill me .I agreed to give you 8% of
this money, if you can help me bring out this box from
the security company and transfer this money into your
account for onward investment in your country.
Please contact me immediately through E-mail and include your telephone
and Fax numbers in your response to enable me send you
all necessary details as regards to the procedure of
securing the consignment out from the security company
and transferring the fund to your ends account.
Please be rest assured that this transaction is 100%

I'm waiting for your urgent reply.
Best regards

Can't be. The US govmn't budget is only a few percent of GDP. The

The main purpose is for academic gain. If you'd looked at the paper a
bit, you'd have read it took about 1/2 an hour to reconstruct the image
from one screen. It is a proof of principle concept, enough so that
multi-billion dollar espionage agencies can think about it. At 30 fps
for a game, forget it. But for a slow typist who has to go get a cup
of coffee because the phone rang

It does make the game more interesting, but it's mighty easy to defeat.

It's definitly why you need fast digital. To reproduce 20+ kHz you should
use a 200kHz sample rate and have a nice filter stage before the power
amp. "good digital" can do more things than good analog because the final
output is good analog in both cases. The speaker driver is pure analog
by definition.

To produce 65kHz (for cats) my present boss prefers a 1 MHz sample rate.
The guys who do bats think it's good enough for 200kHz, but my boss won't
do bats - much too complex. We've got a 25 bit dac which updates at
1 MHz, but we still need a nice filter and analog output stage for 120 dB
clean signals. (I'm only getting 100 dB because it costs too much to
really do the best possible.) Clearly a digital system can be built
that can create any wave form a speaker can follow, and it's easier to
control than an analog system.

The human hearing system is capable of noticing phase relations at 100kHz
rates. So any sample rate faster than 200kHz is outside the range of
human detection. Cats can notice phase shifts in the 200kHz range, and
bats are out in the 400kHz range. Biological systems *are* impressive.
But digital vs analog is a silly argument, the final stage is analog.

Yup, check out this dvd unit:

major brands such as Sony, Panasonic and Pioneer. "

So it won't be long before bypass systems will be commercially available.

It can't be collision free if the number of input bits exceeds the number

Automotive environments are known to be harsh, so electronics is protected
to some extent. The assumption is that spark plug voltages can get into
sensors, so most data lines are protected as are the sensor lines. If you
try to fry things with double the voltage of a standard spark plug it may
not work, if you use 10 times that it will, but the ESD protection will
obviously be blown too. That begins to look suspicious (but I doubt
anyone could _prove_ you fried it on purpose).

The main question is how deep is the memory of these things. If they only
remember the last catastrophic event then "privacy" isn't a problem. The
actual routes taken are not stored. If you are in an accident and the
cops ask you to take a breath test, you can take the test or not - and
deal with the consequences of the legal system based on your choice. The
data taken from the recorder for the "event" is then corroboration, which
may help instead of hurt you.

If the box remembers everything you do, and the garage mechanic can use it
to blackmail you, then it becomes a "privacy" issue. I think the issue is
when data is removed, and how much is actually stored. Can anybody
explain the details?

Thanks, interesting. I think anyone with access to the original

that they wouldn't know how to decode the message. It still depends

Very nice drug induced rant. Too bad reality doesn't work that way.
Who owns the hardware? The user or the RIAA? True hardware protection
means the user is protected from Microsoft, not the other way around.

Palladium changed to NGSCB and will morph to something else and something
after that. It won't ever fly because the user can't control their own
machine.

Trust is a two way street. Until Microsoft learns to trust their
customers, nobody will trust Microsoft. What we do in person we can do
on a computer. We can con each other in person, so we'll be able to con
each other with computers. That's how reality works, and no hardware
or laws is going to change that.

Instead of trying to wave a magic wand while everyone is on lsd, it'd
be better if Microsoft and the RIAA came out with their own hardware
for the specific purpose of DRM sales. Everyone would know who owns
the hardware because they'd just rent it instead of buying it. IBM
is already on the right track for this. Microsoft has yet to get it.

Right now it's running about $37.5e6 each, but as more die you'll get a
better deal. Might drop to as low as $20e6 each, but the estimate on the

Which is why MAD works. But a regular bombing run on a few oil refineries
would put the US in a world of hurt really quickly, enough for them to
pull a lot of their troops out of places that happen to be too close to
Russia and China. Mexico isn't entirely happy with US policy, I'm sure
they could be bribed into letting the other powers use their air and land
space for a "limited" attack. The US won't use nukes to retaliate, which
was the origin of this line of argument.

If Russia, Chaina and the EU really wanted to, they could use conventional
weapons and force the US to at least retreat from trying to rule the
world. An attack on Syria and Saudi Arabia or Iran could provoke it.

I don't think it's very likely to happen, but if the US really tries to
attack more countries with the same blatent lies they used on Iraq, I
wouldn't be supprised either.

I totally agree. The US has lost everything in terms of world opinion.
We are morons led by an insane lunatic and the US needs to be dealt with
accordingly. Once we start invading Syria, the world will retaliate in a
big way. We're already building excuses to do so, so I won't be supprised
if the US "accidentally" bombs a few targets inside Syria.

Which is how the rest of the world will treat US POW's from now on too.
I bet the weekend warriors weren't betting on that!

> hopefully they are treated well as its no fault of

You gotta use pawns when you have them. The US is streatched really thin
now. A major attack on it's "interests" in South America would prove
difficult to defend. Same with Korea and Taiwan. The nut cases in
Washington are very capable of doing something really stupid and I don't
think they appreciate how much military power can be brought to bear
against them. If it stays in Iraq, the US has a chance. If they decide
to make it bigger, the US will be toast.

It's definitly jammed in the US. I get "503 - out of resources error".
Maybe you guys can set up a mirror that isn't jammed and the US can see it

These are known coefficients. All the a_j are in the set {0,1}.

That doesn't look right. It should be X*A =
X_(w-1) + X_(w-2) + ... X_1 + X0*[a_(w-1) + a_(w-2) + ... + a_0]

I think you are forgetting the polynomials that go along with all the
coefficients. It's not just X_(w-1), it's X_(w-1)*x^(w-1). Then you
check the last bit of X - if it's 0 all the terms of the last row of
A go away. If it's 1 then you just XOR all the A coefficients of the
last row (which obviously must be the specific coefficients of the
same degree of the polynomial) with X.

So these are coefficients of polynomials. Otherwise you end up with 1 bit
total. I don't think that's the right result :-)

Yeah, I forgot about that. That's part of the reason they voted to not
let the US use their turf - they want to keep the French and Germans
happy. That's a damn good reason for them to leave the Kurds alone,
pure economics!

And if the EU can get a foothold into Turkey to kick the US out, that

No, we'll help put on the show of "liberation". We'll tell them who
they can elect, and all the choices will be US backed. It'll be
great theater, and the US will control everything indirectly.

Nobody in the US. The Kurds will be fucked from all sides and will have
to fight a bit harder than before because there won't be anything to
balance the Turkish attacks.

The US is definitly pissed at Turkey, but it's still too important
militarily to ignore. The US needs Turkey in a big way. They were

We'll leave them alone. They don't really want to get Daisy Cutter's
or MOAB's dropped on them. By staying out of it they'll be effectively
neutralized. The next government dictatorship will have to deal with
it. But they are far away from the oil, so they don't matter much.

Bush would like this to last a long time. He needs the votes in
2004. But that's way to far away, and if the economy stays stagnant

And who's going to pay for that info? The tag is made by TI, but
the store you walk into buys from Phillips. That means the reader has to
recognize all the standards (and there aren't any right now, so it has to
recognize every individual frequency and data stream). Then there has to
be some kind of _central_ database that *everyone* has access to.
You can't determine who the customer is if they aren't in your database,
so a centralized database would make sense. The bandwidth on that is
going to be a nightmare.

Yeah, and it takes a second or 2 to find the bar code. That's got
to cost a few pennies doesn't it :-)

Our library already has a tagging system. You put your card down
and the bar code on it gets read, then slide the book barcode over it
and the book is checked out, assuming you don't have any fines. So
it's already in place.

But for those who have a clue, mylar is going to be very popular :-)

And what happens when the "personalized" treatment is cold sholder
because of buying the competitions product? My bet is they'll just
issue an rfid card and not use the inventory control for that purpose.

Connecting inventory control to customer preferences can't be done without
an alternate device. I can see how the grocery store will want to track
your purchases over time to give you discounts on other products, and sell
the info to various competing interests. Discount stores will also do the
same thing, but the bar code tags already give that info. rfid doesn't
add anything, it just gets in the way of store security (why keep track
of *every* item purchased by *everybody* to prevent theft of CD's???)

What I'm trying to say is that the info the stores want on you is already
there and in use. The rfid helps track items without the bar code,
and in places you can't read a bar code (like when lots of items are in
a box). It can also be used for theft prevention. But you need to
disable it to prevent having to deal with goods bought the week before
in a store on the other side of the world.

If the stores *don't* use the rfid's for security, and they can already
use the bar codes for inventory, what good are they? Bar code readers are
much cheaper than rfid readers and so is the paper tag that holds the
bar code. There's no economic sense for the rfid tag in the first place.

I stand corrected, the one by Matrics looks very nice indeed:
http://www.matricsrfid.com/pdf/Tech_Overview_Data_Sheet.pdf

runs at 900+ MHz which gives it a good few meters range.

However, it still gets it's power from an outside source, so you
can easily tell when one is getting sampled. Fortunatly the
higher the frequency, the easier it is to shield. I still think
it's an over reaction to inventory control, but I guess it'd be a ton
of fun to build a reader and play with these things as people walk down
the street, just to see what you can see :-)

I think you're over reacting. RFID tags only have a range of centimeters.
You'd need a huge current to power them from more than 1 meter, and that's
just not going to be out on a beach in a hidden way.

Since the coupling is magnetic a Faraday cage won't work. But a thin
piece of mu metal would work pretty well.

It's just for inventory control! They probably mount it on a tag you can
rip off when you go to wear the clothing.

The stuff you need to worry about is already out there as radio
transmitters being planted by cops in your keyboard. The battle is
already engaged, how's our defense look against real threats?

The order of the blocks. You have v=3 bits and k=3 blocks,
so 9 bits total. In a block of 9 bits there are 512 possible
combinations. The order of each block matters (in this example).

It's a useful test, also called "chi^2". It's been applied to
feedback shift registers for a long time, so tradition is now part of the
reason :-)

Pretty much applies to most people don't ya think?

Look at the US feds - they really have done a bang up job catching people
who grow their own marijuana. Let alone those who fly airplanes into
buildings.

Like Lau Tzu said some 2500 years ago: the more rules and regulations a
government creates, the more clever the people become.

It don't matter what the rules are. We'll find a way around 'em.
Just like everyone in China and the former soviet union did.

But visible is limited to line of sight. With reasonable RF you
can bounce all over the planet.

Anyone who ships anything outside the US had better know if they are
an ECCN item. If you don't have an SED requirement, you probably can
get away with things, but if it's more than $2500 and the feds decide to
look, you can get screwed big time. "Classifying" isn't related to
secrets in this case.

Not priced for a huge number of implementors. They probably
hope to sell a few hundred develoment kits and maybe 10,000 to
100,000 chips. They don't even put their data sheets online.
Maybe they're just a scam?
