That is the real question.
They are two very different languages, at present darktable seems to

I seem to have lost the ability to use the mouse in the Monochrome Module.

Scrolling within the module simply moves the 'circle' around but does
not resize as in 2.6.2.

Anyone else able to reproduce this?

Solved!

I deleted darktablerc from the .config/darktable directory, and it
started working as expected.

I'll try re-setting the preferences and see if I can break it again, or
better still find the cause!

Re: [darktable-dev] Upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.2.1 destroys order of modules

2020-08-12 Thread Richard Hobday

You might benefit from changing the settings in:
Preferences/processing/auto apply pixel workflow defaults
this should allow you to the revert to the legacy pipe order.

On 12/08/2020 19:15, Andreas Herold wrote:

Hi,

some feedback from a User who made currently the upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.2.1.

In my workflow I’m using very often modules, which are using parametric masks.
I’m applying moduIes with parametric masks very early in processing. I do this,
to have stable masks, that are not depend on other modules. E.g. if I want to
change brightness and contrast of the sky, I’m doing this before changing
overall brightness. This way the mask of the sky does not depend on overall
brightness.
After upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.2.1 I now see, that the order of modules has
changed. For example, now the overall brightness is applied before the module,
that was changing the sky. Since I had used a parametric mask, this mask became
invalid. It is not the same selection I originally chosed. In the result, the
processing is destroyed for hundreds of images.

Seems that the Watermark module size is fixed at 350px width.
Does not resize when right side panel width is set to 300 or less.

Can you tell us more?

I have just tested (with the same version) with a side panel of width
300, 350, and 400 and it resize for me.

Yes, a known issue that should have been fixed, can you check with Git

And report if it is working or not?

BTW, which version of Gtk+ is on Mint 17.2?

3.10.8~8 is the latest available on Trusty-Updates.
I'll live with issue for the present and hope that all is well in the stable

I'll probably screw my set-up if I try and compile 3.18.

Thanks for you thoughts.

Problem found.
It's caused by the length of the Font description string.

'DejaVu Sans' - No Problem

'DejaVu Sans Oblique Semi-Condensed' - Pushes the right hand side of the
Module out of the frame!

I'd hazard a guess that the gtk widget for font display here is
'centred' rather than 'left' aligned?

But maybe that is intentional.

Re: [darktable-dev] Import/export of tag lists

2016-09-27 Thread Richard Hobday

Thanks Tobias for adding that option.

Tested with the list from
https://lightroom-keyword-list-project.blogspot.de/

It seems to works well, looking forward to a more intuitive 'ordered
list' within the tagging module.

Seems that the code may already be there somewhere as the the 'Collect
images - Narrow down Search - Tag' option gives an ordered list of the
available tags.

On 26/09/16 15:19, Tobias Ellinghaus wrote:

Hello dear users out there,

I recently added two new buttons to the tagging module, one to import and one
to export the list of tags to Lightroom compatible text files. That should
allow getting one of those vocabulary lists from the Internet and use it for
tagging. You still have to be careful to not mistype a tag name, hit enter and
assign that by accident (at least for now) but it's a first step.
So if you are in need of a system like that or want to try it, please do so
and give feedback if anything doesn't work.

CAVEAT: Make a backup of your ~/.config/darktable/library.db first as this might
very well create thousands of new tags that are not fun to manually delete
afterwards.

What is currently missing is:

- explicit category support – not sure if there is anything special to do
- support for fixed order of tags (~ in the txt file)
- support for synonyms. It's a great thing but not possible with the current
way darktable handles tags. I will definitely add that eventually but not for
now.

Oh, and the quick tagging (ctrl-t) box should now also propose tags with the
typed part anywhere but the start. So having a tag like "Animals|Mammals|Dog"
and typing "dog" it should be in the list.

For reference and an idea where to get tag lists here is the commit message

commit 4129a3065732a47bb107fba52536f0d2119c8931
Author: Tobias Ellinghaus
AuthorDate: Sun Sep 25 15:58:10 2016 +0200
Commit: Tobias Ellinghaus

 [tags] Allow to import/export tags

This is useful when using a closed vocabulary for tagging images. A way

to disable creating new tags is needed still, but this at least allows
 to get tags into dt.

There are some free tag lists available on the internet, for example

 - Some CC-BY-SA licensed lists:

   https://lightroom-keyword-list-project.blogspot.de/
 - Not sure about the license:

http://workshops.bigsunphotography.com/news/28-free-lightroom-keyword-library-download

Google might find more. Just make sure that the txt file uses the

 Lightroom format as described here:
 http://www.photo-keywords.com/keyword-list-format.php

Thanks
Tobias

I notice that the problem of selecting images to download still needs

Roman

Just wondering what this means - apart from the obvious!

You have called ADD_LIBRARY for library rawspeed without any source
files. This typically indicates a problem with your CMakeLists.txt file
Program compiles and runs without issue now as far as I can see, so
clearly NOT critical.

CRTC for screen 0 CRTC 3 has no mode or no output, skipping

DVI-0    the X atom and colord returned the same profile

Your system seems to be correctly configured
Seem to remember that I had to use displayCal to install one profile and
'Colour' under system settings to set up the other.

darktable (git master) is set to use colord, under GUI Settings, method
to use for getting the display profile.

All seem to work fine here and darktable remembers the settings.

Redmine seems to have an 'issue' when I try to access it.

 https://redmine.darktable.org/projects/darktable

 gives this :

   Internal error

An error occurred on the page you were trying to access.
If you continue to experience problems please contact your Redmine
 administrator for assistance.

If you are the Redmine administrator, check your log files for
 details
 about the error.

 Am I alone in this?

see https://www.darktable.org/about/faq/
very near the bottom of the page "bug report"
   https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues

use github to report issues and/or enhancement requests.

Thank you Patrick.
I was of of course aware of the links to github, but had not drawn the
conclusion that the Redmime account for darktable is now obsolete.

If that is the case then a re-direct from the Redmine index page to
github would seem to be prudent, and perhaps a statement to that effect
on the 'News' pages of the darktable website.

R.

Re: [darktable-dev] Redmine issues ?

2019-09-03 Thread Richard Hobday

Hello Nicholas,
Thanks for the timely observation.

As I have said in my earlier reply to Patrick Shanahan ...

Certainly very confusing to have two competing platforms!

Hi all,

There was also a Github issue asking to maybe choose between Github or
Redmine. Having two platforms to post issues is not the best way.
Unfortunately, too less answers posted. But having redmine KO is maybe a
way to prefer Github (as PR and code is on Github also).

See the Github issue about that :
https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/2684

I think that if Redmine coming back, it should be read only and
issues/features requests should only be posted on Github for more easier
following about them. Many things were outdated on Redmine.
