(For both 12- and 14-bit compressed modes, the normal records are present.) I have no idea why, but it would explain why DT can't edit them. https://raw.pixls.us/ now has samples for the 14-bit uncompressed NEFs (since this week) so DT might support them in one of the next versions. For now, it seems only the compressed NEF formats are supported. So best shoot in them, and perhaps do a test series with lossless and lossy modes to check. At the moment, it seems only the 14-bit lossless-compressed raws are supported. > Any advice ? Yes. *Please* provide *full* raw sample set for that camera for https://raw.pixls.us/ If i'm reading usermanual correctly, it can produce 6 raw files: * 14bit, uncompressed * 14bit, lossless compressed * 14bit, lossy compessed * 12bit, uncompressed * 12bit, lossless compressed * 12bit, lossy compessed So put camera on tripod (ideally), and take all 6 samples of the same scene (other requirements are specified on https://raw.pixls.us/, e.g. the image should not contain people). [darktable-user] D500 file opening error
Hello, I am trying to open a NEF 14 bit uncompressed picture taken by my Nikon D500 (Darktable 2.2.3 on Ubuntu 16.10). When I click on it to open I get the error "failed to read camera white balance infromation from 'filename.NEF' !". Any advice ? Re: [darktable-user] want to move from iPhoto to darktable
When I need to rename/relocate film rolls *en masse*, I usually rename each film roll's directory (in Bash or elsewhere) and then edit the database directly to apprise Darktable of the new paths (UPDATE film_rolls SET folder = "/new/path" WHERE folder == "/old/path"). Of course, it is very easy to mess up one's database this way, so some caution is advised. -- August Schwerdfeger aug...@schwerdfeger.name On Mon, Apr 10, 2017 at 3:38 PM, Dr. Georg Troska < georg.tro...@uni-dortmund.de> wrote: > Hello, > > I finally managed to move from iPhoto to darktable by using the software > "phoshare" on the mac and a lot of bash-programming on linux. Re: [darktable-user] want to move from iPhoto to darktable
Hello, I finally managed to move from iPhoto to darktable by using the software "phoshare" on the mac and a lot of bash-programming on linux. Now I'm starting to use darktable and see how powerful it is. Already now I think, moving was the correct choice. Still a few questions: 1. Is there an easy way to make something like albums? I mean something like a new folder with links to some selected pics, so that I have a subselection? Background of this question is the fact, that I'm using my TV with DLNA support as digital picture-frame. It would be very nice if I could tag some pictures and a new folder per tag appears containing each picture link. I guess darktable does not offer such a solution right? Possible to make some scripts? 2. I understand that darktable is not meant to be a used for filesystem stuff. Anyhow I'm missing a possibility to rename a filmroll. I tried out, renaming a filmroll in the filesystem is possible but then darktable needs to re-import the folder. Is there an other way? Actually, I really have a lot of problems as I didn't do the naming of my filmrolles accurately, In iphoto I had one indicating photo and this was enough. Is there any plan going on to change darktable for a better usability, here. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the concept. Currently I have more than 30k pics from the last years imported as roughly 1000 filmrolls. So I'm just asking, what do you do to find a picture?? 3. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to recover the modifications I did to the pictures. Luckily I didn't do much, as iPhotos feasibilty is very limited, but Especially, I set thousands of geotags in the picutures manually, which I would like to keep. I think I would be able with some scriping magic to read in this information from iPhoto. Is there an easy way to tell darktable "please use these geotags for these pictures"? E.g. I saw one can provide a file with the exif_date and the geotag and darktable will set the geotag to the corresponding picture. So is it possible to do this on a larger set of picture (lets say 30k??) How should the fileformat look like? 4. I didn't found a possibility in darktable to set a geotag manually. There is only the workaround with the mentioned file. Is there something going on into this direction? 5. I'm missing a possibiliy to move one picture forward and backward in the darkroom. Using the mouse on the lower part is very slow.
