Re: [darktable-user] Image id in export file name

2017-04-15 Thread Sergii Dymchenko
I want a traceable back and stable (stay the same if I re-export the same
images lately or in different order) file names.
So I can send bunch of low-resolution files (1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, etc.) to
someone, they say they like only 2.jpg and 3 jpg, and I can find these
images in Darktable and send hi-resolution versions of 2.jpg and 3.jpg.

I use $(YEAR)$(MONTH)$(DAY)_$(SEQUENCE).$(FILE_EXTENSION) that can be
pre-set in the dt preferences under the 'session options' ... this works
with me as I only use a single camera, I set the sub-directory naming
pattern as $(YEAR)$(MONTH)$(DAY)_$(JOBCODE) ... the jobcode provides me
with some sort of intelligent reference to the day's activity.

[darktable-user] Image id in export file name

2017-04-15 Thread Sergii Dymchenko
Hello,

I'd what to have a unique file name for every image in my library, that
also can be traced back to the image in Darktable.

I wanted to use "image id", but it's not a variable in the list of
supported variables for export (although it supported in the watermarks
module).

Also, it looks like there is no easy way to find an image with a specific
image id in Darktable.

Any suggestions? Should I think of some other way of creating unique and
traceable back file names?

-Sergii.

[darktable-user] Custom Tone Curve

2017-04-15 Thread David Vincent-Jones
I have created a monochrome image and would like to use it as an example
for future work.

Is it possible to create a custom tone curve that will emulate the tones
in the example image?

David

Re: [darktable-user] Undo in lightable?

2017-04-15 Thread Richard Vanek
Colin,

that is rather unfortunate that there is no Undo. Do you know if there is
reason for it?
I can not press red dot again, well I can but that removes red from all the
images. You know the starting situation was that only some of them had the
red dot.

Re: [darktable-user] Can't remove high frequency chroma noise with equalizer

2017-04-15 Thread Andy
I use something similar, though I haven't found a difference in using
larger patch-sizes for non-local means.

I'm aware of the options and saw the equalizer tutorial, I just felt I'm
missing something since it doesn't behave the way I expect it to.
Removing the highest frequency wavelets should remove high frequency
noise, but I guess the equalizer doesn't actually down-weight the
wavelets but does something more complicated. From the docs I thought
that setting "edges" very low I could recover the naive wavelet

decomposition behavior, but that didn't seem to be the case.

I get very good results for "medium noise" (ISO 800 in a 5D mk II)

- first: wavelets, strength 1.0, blend mode color 100%. This erases
all traces of color noise (the more annoying for me), but introduces
extra luma noise.
- second: non-local means, patch size 4, strength 1.0, blend mode
lightness 50%. I also found this module was very harsh on the details
until I used this patch size and blend percentage combination.
Using a before/after snapshot at 100% magnification I don't find any
significant loss off detail, and just a little increase in image
artifacts. For lower noise (ISO 100-200), I usually go only with the
first copy (color noise).

Hope this is useful for you.

Guillermo

No there isn't. Ctrl-Z is something else.

Your simplest approach at this point is to press the button for red again,
turning it off for all selected photos.

[darktable-user] Undo in lightable?

2017-04-15 Thread Richard Vanek
Hello,

I am rather new in darktable, please excuse if this is trivial question.
I was marking my imported images by color. Giving red to interesting images
as sort of pre-selection.

Then I had few marked by red dot. I wanted to filter and see only those
with red dot in lightable.
I was looking around for some way to filter it and I pushed the red dot at
the bottom of the screen. As I had (for whatever reason selected all my
images, all of them got red dot!

I was expected to push -Z to do undo of this step.
It didn't work!

Is it something I missed or there is no UnDo in lightable mode?
Thank you for your kind answer.
