I rename after import using cardreader. also correct the file date-time
to the image origin,
  rename: exiv2 mv \-k \-r %y%m%d_%H%M%S_:basename: \.\/*.{nef,jpg}'
  reset file date-time: exiv2 -T ./*.{nef,jpg}'

I use exiv2 instead of exiftool, it is compiled rather than a script.

my filenames retain the original filename with the date added,
  180516_101251_aaa_0119.nef

I have three bodies and set the timestamp on each via wwz so my files
allways are in chronological order after renaming.

[darktable-user] Some useful scripts for file management

2018-07-16 Thread Ariel Kanterewicz
I did a couple of scripts that were useful to me, so I'm sharing them in
the hopes they're useful to someone else :-D

These work for me® on Arch Linux, but they use standard stuff so they
should work fine on nearly any linux that runs Darktable. one creates a new
folder in the SD card if needed, the other one adds a datestamp prefix to
RAW files.

Re: [darktable-user] No response to "Vibrance in darktable"?

2018-07-16 Thread Jean-Luc CECCOLI
According to google :

«Le terme vibrance est un néologisme. Il permet de décrire ce qui est vibrant,
ce qui fait vibrer. Il est beaucoup utilisé en photographie. En effet, la
vibrance correspond à l'amplification (ou non) des couleurs les moins saturées.»

in english (translation by myself) :

"Vibrance is a neologism that allows to describe what makes vibrate. It is much
used in photography, where vibrance corresponds to amplification (or not) of
the less saturated colours."

So, Paul may be right.

The manual states, "Vibrance saturates and brings down the lightness of the most

I would have thought that whereas Saturation increases the saturation of all
pixels equally, Vibrance increases the saturation of only the less saturated
pixels.

Why do you think that?

Best is to just try by yourself, and my experience is that the manual is
correct.

So Vibrance takes the most saturated pixels and increases their
saturation even more and leaves the least saturated pixels alone?

When I am working as „Administrator“, I can Start Darktable without any

[darktable-user] No response to "Vibrance in darktable"?

2018-07-16 Thread Paul Deverson

Hi,

I'm surprised that no-one has responded to my question about Vibrance in
darktable.

The manual states, "Vibrance saturates and brings down the lightness of
the most saturated pixels to make the colors more vivid."

I would have thought that whereas Saturation increases the saturation of
all pixels equally, Vibrance increases the saturation of only the _less_
saturated pixels.

Or have I got it wrong?

Paul.
