It's normal. "The crop has gone" - you have cancelled it by changing the
orientation - just select the crop and rotate module, then change the
orientation, then select the crop area.

[darktable-user] Problem with crop and orientation module

When I add a crop to an image (for instance 4:3) and then change the 
orientation of an image, the crop is gone and replaced by a very 
rectangular and vertical crop. This only seems to be happening to raw 
files, not jpegs. Could someone please verify this? Or perhaps it has 
already been reported.
