Using darktable with untranslated UI (Re: [darktable-user] Can't discard history stack)
Darktable users are discussing on a bar mailing-list. Le 23/10/2016 à 11:37, Frank J. a écrit : $ export LANGUAGE=en_EN.UTF-8 && darktable Captain Technically-true-but-practically-useless says: "en_EN.UTF-8 is not a correct locale name. en_US.UTF-8 and en_GB.UTF-8 are correct." Though I'm not sure if he's actually right, let alone if people care. Anyway, Captain Practical enters the bar mailing-list and says: "Simply do export LANGUAGE=C ; darktable which means "don't try to even translate anything, even in any English variant" or even export LC_ALL=C ; darktable to let everything (not just strings, but also number formatting conventions, etc) get basic untranslated processing. (For people who don't know the origin of the joke, those captains are family members of Captain Obvious http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CaptainObvious ) My two cents. -- Stéphane Gourichon darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

The results will be the same, but it's easier to tell here about it. To switch permanently you can set: $ echo "ui_last/gui_language=de_DE.utf8" >> ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc && darktable $ echo "ui_last/gui_language=en_EN.utf8" >> ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc && darktable Frank darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
Re: [darktable-user] Can't discard history stack
No, I don't want to discard the history stacks of all/selected images, I just want to compress them. It doesn't really matter as compressing the history stack doesn't really do anything to the resulting image. It's just one of those things that annoying me to have one longer than "needed". I wish there was a "super compress" that woukd not only compress it but also remove all modules that are turned off. I do though understand why they don't delete those by default when compression though. In lighttable screen, there is history stack menu which has discard button. Perhaps this is what you are looking for? I always like to compress my history stacks after I finish editing. Sometimes I forget. I'm curious if there is a way to compress all history stacks of all images in the database (or those selected)? Maybe with a lua script? re: [darktable-user] Can't discard history stack
Hello, If working on a single picture, just select the first line at the bottom of the stack then click "compress history" and you're done : the whole stack is being deleted. If you applied wrong settings to a module say, in the middle of the stack, go to the top of the stack, then invoque the module once more with the right settings, then click on to "compress history". Then i'd suggest re-reading https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch03s02.html.php#pixelpipe and https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch03s03s03.html.php TLDR: that is normal, you should not try to get empty history stack. Not meant to be recursive, but to discard the history stack you need to press "discard" in the "History stack" lib in the right sidepanel of Lighttable, when the image is selected. It is stated in usermanual, which, i'm sure, you did read: https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch02s03s07.html.php#d0e2731 > Thks for your help > -- > Mit freundlichem Gruß > > Ulf Richter Roman. > > Kindle-E-Books: > Fotografie - leicht und verständlich erklärt.
