[datameet] Demographic data by age group and gender at ward level

2023-07-17 Thread Shubham Pujan
Hello friends,

I am looking for population data by age group (+ gender) at town-ward
levels, from either census 2011 or something newer.

The Primary Census Abstract table from census 2011, although at ward
level, only has one age group classification (0-6).
Some other tables I managed to find on the census website
<https://censusindia.gov.in/census.website/data/census-tables> have data
for multiple age groups but are at state-district level only.

Any leads will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Shubham Pujan

Re: [datameet] Re: Survey of India published - District, Block and Village Boundaries

2022-09-29 Thread Shubham
Just a note that there is a recurring mistake wherein random alphabets in
names have been replaced by special characters like ">" or "@" etc. In the
screenshot below, it looks like "a" has been replace by ">" but in other
files ( I have checked Ahmadabad and Belagavi village boundaries ), there
are different characters popping up and these are not limited to a certain
column only.
Also there are no LGD codes mentioned so joining with other datasets will
prove difficult.

Re: [datameet] Predicting poverty using satellite imagery

2018-09-10 Thread Shubham Goel
My apologies.
All the data is available at 1km resolution, not 1m.
Thanks,

Hi Raja,
To answer your questions,
 1. Yes the NOAA data is available for public use. There's also an R package to
do the same - https://github.com/walshc/nightlights

A Google search also revealed an API which returns the nightlight
information for every Indian village. Here's the link-
http://api.nightlights.io/
Not sure if there's an upper limit to the number of queries.

 2. Yes, I believe VIIRS provides 1m nightlight data

Hi,
I have few queries on the available datasets
 1. you have stated that NOAA nightlight data available across the globe at 1m
resolution. is it freely available for the general researcher?
 2. As per my knowledge images using nighttime data from the Visible Infrared
Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). Do they have 1m resolution?
