OTH, I can say that this type of ready/to/use/customizable fs image tool is invaluable for anyone. I wouldn't be learning openembedded if this was published some months ago :) And some comments about general OE/Angstrom-DVEVM experience: 1) Highly customizable fs and tools for DaVinci, in a very easy way. 2) Support for dsplink and cmem modules for the DSP side. Given that building and running dsplink for latest kernels is virtually impossible for average user, this is life-saving . 3) Last but not the least, powerful staging environment for development. If you happen to compile/build many different 3rd applications, you have all the libraries, sources, etc. at your hand. Thanks for this great job. emdebian and Ubuntu?
I recently discovered this bug report in Ubuntu 8.10, whereby the package "emdebian" has been blacklisted from Ubuntu for reasons that struck me as a little arbitrary, e.g. "making Ubuntu compatible with emdebian-tools would end up making Ubuntu back into Debian." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/emdebian-tools/+bug/250309 I had been trying to use emdebian to compile a basic UBL for DM355, that is a UBL just for the ARM core itself and not yet for the TI-specific peripherals. However, the decision by Ubuntu maintainers above now means I must set up parallel Debian system.
