I have a MySQL ODBC connection that I setup as a User DSN and have gotten it to
connect successfully according to the ODBC Data Source Administrator. When I
click the "Test" button on the User DSN configuration it says that the
connection was successful.
However! When I go try to make the connection in Open Office Base 3.1.1
(Edit->Database->Database Properties, Advanced Properties, Browse button),
although the User DSN that I have setup shows up in the list, and I can test it,
the connection test fails and I get the following error message:
Connection Test
The Connection Could not be established.
I'm using a 64-bit system running Windows Vista. Is there any reason why this
doesn't work? I'm sure I have the right password, as I got the connection to be
successful in the "ODBC Data Source Administrator", and it said the connection
was successful there but not in OOo.
I asked the question here:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=26803&p=121935#p121935
I also asked the question here:
http://superuser.com/questions/99784/getting-open-office-base-3-1-1-and-mysql-odbc-5-01-06-00-driver-64-bit-working
The conclusion that the board moderator came to on the first link was that OOo
Base doesn't support the 64-bit version of the MySQL ODBC driver.
