If you want to use tnsnames, shouldn't that be:

   my $dsn = 'DBI:Oracle:XXX';

instead of

   my $dsn = 'DBI:Oracle:sid=XXX';

?

The connect works absolutely fine when I cut off ora_dbh_share parameter.

I usually put 

 

use DBD::Oracle;
