that  return link and tags using WWW::Mechanize, which is a subset of LWP.

In what way have they failed you? Are they somehow insufficient for your task?

Have you tried HTML::LinkExtor?

There are a number of other extensions and subclasses of HTML::Parser
on CPAN; do any of them look promising?

Does any module come close to what you want, so that a little
programming could fill the gap?
