[Dbpedia-gsoc] Hello again!

2016-03-01 Thread Pablo Estrada
Hello DBPedia people!
I'm Pablo from Mexico, and a student in Seoul National University in South
Korea. I participated in the GSoC in 2015 with DBPedia! I was working with
Ruben Verborgh and Dimitris Kontokostas on the Linked Data Fragments Server
that Ruben designed. It was an amazing experience.

I'd love to be able to participate in a project with DBPedia this year. I
found myself interested in the DBPedia Lookup project. I feel that my
experience and interests match the project.

So: Is it possible to work in DBPedia once more? : ) (just to make sure,
before starting to work on my proposal).

Thanks a lot!

Best
-P.

Re: [Dbpedia-gsoc] Re-Introduction

2016-03-01 Thread Thiago Galery
Hi Felix, welcome back. We might add a few warm up tasks soon. Phillip's
project might be merged on the dev branch soon and will provide a good
basis for future additions. If you are interested in spotlight, are there
any ideas on what aspects of it you'd like to concentrate on ?

[Dbpedia-gsoc] Interest in the List Extractor Project

2016-03-01 Thread Sachin Parthasarathy
Hello,
I am Sachin Parthasarathy. I am a Masters student in National University of
Singapore.
I found the DBPedia List Extractor project fascinating.
I have already worked with DBPedia SpotLight before on one of my projects.
So I have a fair idea of how everything works.
Let me explain you my project : It was basically a knowledge graph of all
entities from the movie domain.
The goal is to extract entities from a given Wikipedia (English) page and
relationships amongst them. The work uses pattern-relation duality.
For e.g : Actor A ->has acted in ->Movie B ->which also had ->Actor C
To identify the entities in the movie domain,DBPedia Spotlight was used
with a certain threshold score.
You can see the demo of my project here : http://52.27.131.28/
Looking forward to working on this project.

Hi Nitish and welcome!

FYI, I have updated the idea with a big warm-up task that everyone
should take to show your skills:
