2017-08-05 Thread jathan
Hi everyone. I invite you tomorrow to enjoy a nice Salsa workshop in the
Main Hall of the venue in front of the Buzz room and next to the Front
Desk at 21:00 hrs. (Montreal Local Time Zone). We will learn how to code
our bodies to feel the rhythm and dance on 1 Salsa LA style! :) If you
have any questions feel free to ask. Cheers.

Jathan

RVC reception is open 24 hours, and all they need was my last name.

The keys for RVC are handed out in RVC itself by non-DebConf people;
they were definitely still there after 10pm last night. Also RVC is
closer than the venue (fewer Metro stops) so I'd recommend going
straight there.

[Debconf-discuss] Arriving at RVC

2017-08-05 Thread John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
Hi!

I will be arriving at YUL at 18:50 this evening, I’m currently waiting for my
next flight in Iceland.

Since frontdesk will be closing at 18:00, should I go to RVC directly? Will
someone be there to hand out the room keys?

Thanks,

Re: [Debconf-discuss] About 747 Bus from Montreal YUL airport

2017-08-05 Thread Attila Szalay
Maybe it happened because the weekly ticket is valid from Monday to Sunday
and therefore it was not activated before Monday to not waste it for three
days.

I was able to use a 3 days pass on that bus.

Re: [Debconf-discuss] [Debconf-announce] Ad-hoc (or self-scheduled) sessions: The process

2017-08-05 Thread Michael Banck
Hi,

self-scheduling has now been setup for Sunday on the Front-Desk-window.
You can add your self-scheduled session by writing on the window from
the outside. Please don't write from inside the Front-Desk.

Make sure to submit your talk via https://debconf17.debconf.org/talks/new/
first and add the wafer ID to the slot, plus whatever you want attendees
to see.

[Debconf-discuss] Please send me your personal motivation to join Debian

2017-08-05 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

Helen's inspiring talk[1] (thanks for this Helen) made me wonder about
motivations people might had to join Debian. I guess its quite various
and I would consider it a nice enrichment to my talk next Friday[2] the
possibly most unusual stories I might receive.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

Thank you all for the explanation!
So now it's clear, and I can use my card starting from next Monday.

I bought a week pass (mainly) for the metro. It does not work immediately.
It only works starting Monday (according to the person at the ticket
booth). Perhaps this was the problem in your case.

http://www.stm.info/en/info/fares/transit-fares/weekly-pass says
"Unlimited travel from Monday until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. On sale from
Friday for the following week.".

So what I think happened is you bought a pass for next week, which is
actually good because otherwise your pass would be invalid after
tomorrow. And that is why it was declined.

2017-08-05 Thread Jana Pirat
hi,
the weekly pass is valid from monday to sunday, (not from the day of
purchase) so it will be valid starting on monday, not yet. so for the
weekend you can buy weekend ticket for 13,75 cad - valid till monday 5
am. which is better option then buying 2 days passes (10 cad)
and yes the bus 747 is included in the weekly ticket, as well as in
weekend pass and daypass
regards
jana

Weird, I am not sure that this is generally the case so maybe this
information should reconfirmed by a local team person.

FWIW, I bought the weekend pass for something like CAD 13 and had no
problem boarding the 747 bus with that.

[Debconf-discuss] About 747 Bus from Montreal YUL airport

2017-08-05 Thread Roger Shimizu
Dear all,

I bought weekly pass of public transportation, 25+6 = CAD 31, according to the
PDF welcome guide of the conference.
But when boarding the 747 bus, the red LED flashes, and the bus driver said
because 747 is express so have to buy the CAD 10 ticket.

The bus driver was very kind, and let me get the ride.
It was 3:30AM in the morning, and next next bus would be 1 hour after, so I'm
lucky.
But I want to share this information that it's better to buy the CAD 10 ticket
if you take the bus.
