Re: [Debconf-discuss] Unclaimed DebConf10 tshirts?
Yes. People on IRC said yesterday they are being sold for $10 each... Get them while you can. I'm pretty sure you buy them at the frontdesk.. Re: [Debconf-discuss] More questions regarding what to bring for DebConf10 (and other stuff)
Are you from some kind of 70's hollywood conception of NYC? This city really isn't some kind of Red Dawn dystopian landscape where everyone is running around with sawed-off shotguns. This is an unnecessary level of fear for this city. Morningside heights (where the venue is) is a relatively safe neighborhood. People are out all night long. The 1 line From columbia to the village is one of the safest subway lines in the city, you can take it at 3am by yourself and it will seem like it is 2 in the afternoon because there are so many people around. No, not really.. Though I'll admit my knowledge of NYC is limited, I have been tricked into giving people money in the streets before.. Some guy convinced me he was a Taxi driver on a smoke (pointed down the street to a Taxi waiting) and said I could buy a Metro Card off of him and take me wherever I needed to go... I had just came out of Penn Station with a backpack and pulling my luggage.. Plenty of people around and they didn't seem to pay any attention to him or me so it seemed pretty normal.. So yea, he took my money for a Metro card, walked over to where the Taxi was but then I saw he wasn't the driver.. He then hopped in and took the ride out of there himself and waved from the window.. Kind of funny in retrospect, but yea, I tend to be more cautious because things like that tend to find me pretty easily... Perhaps just my lack of travel experience to blame, or perhaps just really horrible luck.. I'm not saying NYC is unsafe.. I'm just saying, I lost money in broad daylight with tons of people around, and so I tend to be strongly on the side of caution Even if my post helps one person, I'll be happy. ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
[Debconf-discuss] BYO Wireless for dorms?
Was wondering if there was any ban on bringing your own WPA2 secured wireless access point for your dorm room.. I remember somebody saying to be careful to not put any DHCP services onto the campus network from the dorms.. Is a wireless access point in bridged mode (router disabled) ok? -David ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
Re: [Debconf-discuss] ics file problem with schedule
I was also having a problem with the .ics file with korganizer. korganizer does not seem capable of handling the TZID:EDT and wants to interpret every date/time at UTC. By swapping the timezone in korganizer to UTC and then back choosing keep times / move times where appropriate I was able to build a export a .ics file without the TZID:EDT . Please try the following file: http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeq1z17/temp/DebConfAdjusted.ics Also, after importing, please verify the times are correct for your situation against the DebConf10 website.. -David On Wed, Jul 14, 2010 at 2:08 AM, Geoff Crompton geo...@trinity.unimelb.edu.au wrote: Hi, I'm having problems importing the ics calendar of the conference schedule. None of them worked. The Zimbra imports had a failure message, but the other two appeared to create an empty calendar. Anyone know what's wrong? I don't speak fluent ics, so while I can see from downloading the url that there does seem to be data in it, that has appropriate descriptions and dates, I don't know how to spot what might be wrong. -- +-Geoff Crompton +--System Administrator +---Trinity College ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
