[Debconf-discuss] Video team needs volunteers, please join!
Hi all! As you may know, we're providing live video and recordings for all scheduled talks and discussions on DebConf14 (yay!!) In order to keep the current volunteers sane until the end of the conference, we're asking for your help to join the team and help with the following tasks. - camera operating (basically focus on) - sound mixing (basically controling mics volume) - video directing (playing with dvswitch) - talk meistering (running around with a microphone, and introducing speakers) These tasks are quite easy and we'll be happy to guide you if necessary. Also, there's good documentation at https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf14/Videoteam/Help. How to volunteer: - Join #debconf-video on OFTC, and idle there, if you can. - Go to the front-desk and sign up for slots. - If you walk into a talk room, and see nobody behind cameras, go to the video desk and offer your help. - Review video in the evening (Talk to CarlFK to get credentials for this) What you get: - our appreciation - the appreciation of all the people who couldn't make it to Portland - that nice yellow videoteam t-shirt :) Thanks a lot for your support! -- ---- .''`. Hi, In past DebConfs we have encouraged people to pay waiter/waitress tips even regarding sponsored meals. So this is just a reminder :) Local people say it's normal to pay about 10%. Is it saying that each attendee will get a mobile phone running an all-free software stack? Lest this post be 100% snark, let me be more concrete: a) not every participant in debconf uses a mobile telephone b) mobile telephony at the moment enjoys an extremely tenuous (if not adversarial) relationship with the principles of free software (e.g. at least in the US, i have yet to see a functional, fully-free phone, for reasons i'm ill-equipped to explain). c) if debconf actively encourages the adoption of non-free tools, or actively excludes users who do not adopt non-free tools, it would seem to distance the conference from our mutually-held social contract. I would love to be wrong about (b) above. As I see they will provide a SIM card with a bunch of credits for DC11 people. Is that too bad? SkyTeam Global Meetings requires at least 50 participants from 2 countries and an unspecified lead time. Once we register, those agreements are probably reusable in future years, assuming we use one of our long-standing legal entities like SPI or FFIS. Shall I contact Star Alliance and SkyTeam and see what's possible for DebConf11? It would still help to know who would be interested in using one of these arrangements, via one of those airline alliances, who hasn't booked their DebConf11 flights yet. We'd also need to make a separate group booking for whatever form(s) of transport we use for the last leg to/from Banja Luka, if we want a discount for that, since those airlines don't go there. Please still speak up if you're interested in my original idea; single-flight or even multi-flight/single-airline group bookings probably have lower thresholds if these programs are available with the numbers I quoted above. Hi all, Last Debconfs we've got the gallery with nice mugshots of attendees. I has been made by Aigarius and the result is really funny :) http://www.aigarius.com/blog/2007/06/16/you-are-next/ I would like to keep alive this tradition and help doing it in DC8. I just need to know if there is someone else working already on this and if there is a tripod we could use for this. My suggestion is taking the mugshots before and during the key signing party on 2008-08-14. I guess that the problem can be in this code: #sidebar { position: fixed; overflow: auto; width: 128px; min-width: 128px; height: 100%; padding: 0px 10px 0px 10px; margin: 0; background-color: #90acc8; border-right: 1px solid black; z-index: 4; } It has a parse error but I don't know how to fix it :\ []'s -- Tiago Bortoletto Vaz 0xA504FECA - http://pgp.mit.edu http://tiagovaz.org "É preciso não ter medo, é preciso ter a coragem de dizer." [Debconf-discuss] 5 liters water wanted
Hey all, last night (15/05) I forgot my 5 liters water in hacklab1. Today it is not there. I know it is not so expensive, but it is a bit hard to carry from the outside market. Please, if you know where is my water let me know :\ thanks, bye, -- Tiago Bortoletto Vaz http://tiagovaz.org 0xA504FECA - http://pgp.mit.edu "É preciso não ter medo, é preciso ter a coragem de dizer." [Debconf-discuss] Tips
Hey, I saw in [0] that the the waiters would wait for some tips. I've seen people giving tips during breakfest only, maybe because they don't handle money during lunch/dinner or because that instruction in [0] can be a little bit confusing, once we don't know how much is 10% of the sponsored foods. So, this email is just to remember that waiters here are doing a great job, and if you didn't give tips before because you didn't know, think about it :) bye, [0] http://lists.debconf.org/lurker/message/20060507.185459.4595e129.en.html -- Tiago Bortoletto Vaz http://tiagovaz.org 0xA504FECA - http://pgp.mit.edu "É preciso não ter medo, é preciso ter a coragem de dizer."
