Needless restriction to DebConf18 statistics page
Hi, Thank you for DebConf18 team and atendees! I could enjoyed DebConf18! By the way, the following page is required login with Debian SSO, but it seems that there is no need to do so. Could you get rid of access restriction? https://debconf18.debconf.org/statistics/ Regards, -- Kentaro Hayashi

Re: Shipping Debian merch/goodies to India
Please note that this is also a good occasion for bid Debconf committee to setup a group of people, start organising thing together, and also start to think all financial issues that we have on paying and selling stuffs. This is an important first step. (remember that talk is cheap and organising is very time expensive: these are the two most important discoveries on Debconf organising). ciao Cate (and sorry for the top reply). If needed will have to dig through my mail/bookmarks etc. I do have that info. somewhere although Praveen and somebody else whose name I have forgotten at the moment had shared they got the material and the printing done at the same place. The only reason I say this is that all the T-shirts that Praveen got printed I used till years till they got frayed and torn but most of them went around 3-4 years and were cheap. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com EB80 462B 08E1 A0DE A73A 2C2F 9F3D C7A4 E1C4 D2D8

@Gunnar, well said. It's great to know that you've been a long-time contributor. We could print some swag for GSoC students and contributors around Chennai, India. Where can I find some high resolution debian designs ? (I did manage to find a good-enough logo though) To the people who're interested, I did a bit of research. Found this site : https://inkmonk.com/ T-Shirts - $5 Hoodies - $9 Laptop Sleeve - $12 Let me know if you'd like to get something printed. BoF: Issues for Non-Latin Script
Thanks to attendees to the “Issues in the Font Rendering Stack for Non-Latin Scripts BoF”! For non-latin script users there are many pitfalls and there is much work left to do for making their life easier. pleas find attached the gobby notes, which are also on gobby.debian.org. Max * install gobby * gobby.debian.org * debconf18/bof/non-latin-issues Issues with non-latin script Font rendering issue(s) * CJK Han unification right to left writing - Good support in QT and GTK. Not so where they are not used. Specifically: not in a terminal. pipe into bidiv r2l (bidirectional) - hebrew, arabic, farsi, urdu and others Not only R2L - Some glyphs have to modify (ligate with?) the preceding one. harfbuzz - Can properly render multiple glyphs sorting out fine positioning between them. Requires the information from the fonts Rubyscript(?) is an aid to pronunciation that adds aids for pronuntiation. Furigana(?) in Japanese is fully supported. This seems to be a tension issue in Taiwan, it's hard to find proper typesetting. Contact should be made for collaboration! Norbert Preining offers his support. (Zhuyin 注音符號) Example: W3C Ruby support: http://rocksaying.tw/archives/2912837.html Question - Is there a standard way to encode Furigana/Rubyscript i.e. to UTF8, into a stream of characters? Linux kernel console * Useless for CJK, at least (Workarounds: CJKTTY patch, fbterm, ... or kmscon -- Linux KMS/DRM based virtual Console Emulator? https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=700210 ) (reports of reproducible-builds issues derived from RTL - don't remember exactly what triggered them..?) Another issue to discuss - Input methods... fcitx (chinese development) has excellent support. The mixes between keyboard layouts and input methods leads to really confusing situations. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
