Dear DebConf23 attendees,

Welcome to DebCamp! We can generally be found on the second floor at
the moment.

Much of the interaction at DebConf happens on IRC (Internet Relay Chat,
the classic among the chat protocols). If you're familiar with IRC,
we're on #debconf on OFTC. If you are not yet familiar with it, you can
join us via the webchat link:
https://webchat.oftc.net/?channels=#debconf

There is a channel on Matrix too, connected with IRC.

SIM Cards will be available today in the afternoon from 3pm on the
second floor. There will be a representative from Airtel with us, as
mentioned in the welcome mail. You will need your passport to get the
SIM.

From welcome email:
"There will also be a representative from Airtel on-site on the 3rd and
10th of September."

Would be possible to ask them stay there until 11nd or 12nd?

Best regards,

We are happy to see many people new to Debian (for example
Outreachy/Google Summer of Code interns and students) attending the
DebConf.

This BootCamp is an opportunity to get introduced to Debian and have
some hands-on experience with using Debian and contributing to Debian.

Mentors: Sruthi Chandran; Pirate Praveen. (People interested to mentor,
add your name to https://wiki.debian.org/DebConf/23/DebCamp#Your_plans
)

Venue: Noisy Hacklab
Contact: Pirate Praveen (j4v4m4n on OFTC or "praveen at debian dot
org)
When: multiple batches starting on 3 Sep 2023, 6 Sep 2023, 9 Sep
2023, 12 Sep 2023, 15 Sep 2023 - Starting at 3 pm after lunch and we
will interactively adapt the topics covered based on your level of
understanding and we can connect you with teams you are interested in.
Come with Debian installed on your laptop. You should commit to spend
at least 8 hours on learning packaging.

We can help you choose technical (for example packaging, bug fixing,
transitions, system administration etc) or non technical (for example
publicity, design, organizing events, translations etc) contributions
as per your interest.

And then there's http://permacomputing.net/ : people thinking about drastic
measures for reducing impact.

Bye,

Joost - very much interested in meetups / BoF's about these topics

I fully agree - but I'm not an expert on this field. Can you / someone
hold an ad hoc talk / BoF about this topic?

See you all
 Andreas.
