Re: Call for logos for DebConf20 Online

2020-06-22 Thread Valessio Brito
Hi all,

I wish everyone is well.

I would like to state that Jeff's proposal[1] is very good,
considering that Debian is made by network/online, but this moment
says: #StayAtHome or #DebConfAtHome

The element of a house and Debian inside is very significant for me.
Guidance around the world to save as many lives as possible.

If there is no rejection, all of my submitted proposals could be
disregarded if they open for voting. (So sorry for this).

PS:
In the beginning, when I started collaborating with Art on Debian, we
did it in the form of competitions. But it has been a long time since
there is a lot of sense, there are many good designers helping the
project and I have observed that competition is more a way to keep
them away than to add. For this reason, I believe that we have evolved
and I hope that the theme of the next Debian release and or even of
the next DebConf, can be done following the principles of
Collaboration and not more disputes with several proposals.

That this discussion may be part of some other time or list,
unfortunately I am not comfortable following it for now. The important
thing is to recognize that there is no dispute for the best proposal,
if not, an intention to collaborate with the project and everyone is
able, those who do not master the graphic tools can collaborate with
concepts, ideas; Those who master the handling of graphics software,
collaborate in making the idea presentable / usable.

Cheers,

Fight like Marielle Franco - Special T-shirt (GroupPhoto)

2019-07-23 Thread Valessio Brito
Hello everyone,

A few weeks before the conference I decided to make a shirt[1] in
honor of Marielle Franco and in support of human rights activists and
the promotion of diversity.

Who is Marielle Franco?
"Woman, black, mother, lesbian, from the favelas, open about sexuality
and Rio's problems, and on top of all this, a human rights activist."
- That's how Marielle Franco once described herself in an event in Rio
de Janeiro, the city where she was elected a councilwoman. And that's
also why she was killed...[2]

Thanks to everyone who bought the Marielle Franco's t-shirt. (is over now.)

If you feel comfortable, bring your Marielle Franco T-shirt to wear
during Debian GroupPhoto.
Let's keep spreading this message!

PS:
Thanks to Daniel @Lenharo for helping with production and distribution.

Re: Security/crime in Curitiba/Brazil

2019-05-07 Thread Valessio Brito
Hi,

It will be very rare/difficult for you to do anything if you are
walking during the day or as a group.

In Brazil, most capitals or cities that present a level of risk, are
always related to lack of lighting (nocturnal accidents on deserted
streets) or to space fights/places that frequent (gangs, points of
sale and drug use) .

I quickly looked at 2 reports on Violence in my Country; I can tell
you that Curitiba does not appear among the most dangerous cities; And
from the capitals (27) it occupies position 17 of the 2016 ranking.

But it is no alarming fact, the experience I have to travel outside
Brazil is that in Brazil, as in other developing countries, it is good
to walk with the bag closed, not to leave things on the floor or on
the table.
