I'm aware of two options:

- Get a bus directly from Durrës to Prizren. We booked tickets for
this, but never saw the bus in Durrës. Perhaps we should have just
been more patient.

- Get a bus to Tirana - they go very regularly and it is a short ride -
then get a second bus to Prizren. But it seems that most buses to
Tirana stop outside town (possibly at 41.344⁰N 19.777⁰E, but I didn't
mark the place), while the buses to Prizren go from the international
station (at 41.333⁰N 19.801⁰E). We ended up going this way and taking
a taxi between the bus stations.

If you're arriving by ferry, there is a foot bridge from the ferry
terminal to the bus station that will be on your right as you exit the
terminal. No need for a taxi there.

Ben.

As I’m yet to take this bus, I’ve not personally been there, this location was
given to me by Enkelena. However, checking Google StreetView reveals a bunch of
Arditi Tours buses parked at this location, so I suspect it should be the
correct one.

Uh thanks! I was struggling to find the right departure place on the
map given the amount of "Rrota e Kuqe" placenames in that area :)

Between ferry (8:45) and bus (14:00) there is hopefully enough time to
see https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/307287831
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphitheatre_of_Durrës) *and* have a
breakfast :-)

...which reminds me, if anyone's planning to be on the ferry tomorrow
evening (leaving Bari on 2022-07-14 at 22:00), drop me an email and we
can meet up :)

While we're talking about the ferry. The boarding cards need to be
picked up from the ticket office at the car entrance. There is a shuttle
ride between there and the boarding area.

So, do turn up at the ferry 2 hours before departure, to leave time to
collect the boarding cards.

I intend to take this ferry end August after FOSS4G (in Florence,
Italy) to take my return flight back out of Kosovo (to South Africa).
Is there decent savings to be had to book tickets in advance? And if
so, what website is good?

TIA

I only have 1 data point for you:
I had to delay my ferry trip (Bari->Dubrovnik), because I caught
COVID-19 in Italy. Rebooking 2 days in advance didn't require any extra
payment.
I think on that line, prices don't change over time, but cabins may get
booked up.

Yep, cabins book up quickly on the ferries across the Adriatic. My
initial plan was to do Ancona <-> Durrës, then had to switch to Bari
<-> Durrës instead - same trip as Enrico.

Mandatory warning: We only spent a day and a half in Durrës.

The amphitheatre is pretty broken up, and although the 200 ALL (Albanian Lek)
we paid each are not a steal, we were left unimpressed; it probably was an
impressive place, but it's mostly in rumbles now.

Now, positive suggestions :-)

If you're not afraid by a steep walk, the viewpoint (although also broken up)
provides a nice view of the city, in all its contrasts:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/5671367409

In our super-limited experience, if you want to see in the quickest glimpse
what Durrës has to offer; follow that path:
https://bikerouter.de/#map=16/41.3132/19.4505/standard,route-quality&lonlats=19.454663,41.31613;19.449427,41.317255;19.445736,41.314773;19.44593,41.313572;19.444256,41.311686;19.446498,41.309676;19.439278,41.310369&profile=hiking-beta
, aka:
* Use the pedestrian bridge across the large street. That brings you onto the
bus (and train) station "lot". It's a lively, intense mess, full of helpful
locals (with varying levels of english fluency)
* Cross it
* Follow Rruga Kristaq Rama, then Bulevard Dyrrah, turn onto Rruga Fetah
Bllaca
* Enjoy the Roman Market and Therms (in unimpressive shape :-( )
* Reach the main plaza, Sheshi Iliria; admire the two fountains, the beautiful
Mosque
* Climb the stairs to reach the top of the Amphitheater, go around it, enjoy
the views (really, the only thing worth seeing after paying the entry is a
small christian mosaic)
* pass under the arch to reach Rruga Kont Urani, get back down towards the
seaside (or turn right to go _UP_ to the viewpoint)
* skip the Venetian Tower, it was under scaffolding last week
* stroll along the beach, find a shadowed bar/restaurant with a view on the
see, or return along Bulevard Epidam towards Sheshi Iliria.

Get to the "bus station" about 15-20 minutes before your bus ride to make sure
you find the bus, and secure a seat.

Enjoy, and see you in Prizren, hopefully!
