Here's a patch for fvwm. I've also filed a bug report, so hopefully
this will be fixed in sarge soon.

Hi,

since this problem does not show up in the bug tracking system, the idea
came into my mind that it may be related to a faults during the potato
to woody upgrade. I apt-get removed mozilla, galeon and gnome-bin with
dependencies and reinstalled everything. The first two printouts worked.
Hopefully, this printing problem doesn't show up again. The window
frames in mozilla, however, are still absent.

Best wishes,

Kerstin

It is not as reproducable as in your case. Apart from that one printout,
I didn't manage to get a second one in several attempts. It crashes
also, if the page(s) are printed to a file, thus it may be possible,
that you encounter the same problem. But since you have mentioned
Mozilla, I also did the printing test with it (Mozilla 1.0.0), and it
crashes, too (already at the first attempt). Thus, the bug is presumably
related to the rendering machine or to a lib used by Galeon and Mozilla.

Do you also use lprng as a printing system (Version 3.8.10-1)?

I switched to Galeon, because Mozilla lacks the window frame, thus
cannot be resized, which makes it almost unusable. I am surprised that
these bugs don't show up in the bug tracking list. May it be possible
that parts of it are related to that I am not using the Gnome desktop
environment?

Best wishes.

I remember I had a similar problem with certain mozillas. The only
pattern I saw is that I could not print twice. The first time after
startup printing worked, the second time it failed, even if it was the
same web page. I am not sure which versions exactly caused the
problem. I can try at my Debian machine, but only printing to file as
there is no printer connected presently.

Do you observe such a pattern?

I can't reproduce this with the galeon in sid (1.2.7-6), at least not
when printing to a file (I have no printer). So I guess it has been
fixed meanwhile. You could try rebuilding galeon for woody, or upgrade
to sid if you're adventurous :)

Galeon segfaulting

2003-04-06 Thread Kerstin Hoef-Emden

Hi,

Galeon crashes with a segfault-message on my system, almost every time,
I want to print a page (successful printouts are rare).

The error message is as follows:

Application /usr/bin/galeon-bin has crashed due to a fatal error.
(Segmentation fault)

My LX164 runs under woody (Galeon 1.2.5) and fvwm2 as a WM. I did some
experiments with the settings, but couldn't find any differences between
dis- or enabled Java or Javascript, between printing all or only
single pages, no differences also between pages with or without
pictures.

Apparently the crashes are not related to specific webpages. The first
attempt in printing e.g. the bug report listing of the Debian pages
worked, the second attempt failed.

Are there people around with similar experiences? I didn't find related
bug-reports on the Debian pages.

Best wishes,

Kerstin
