I'd guess that some of the problem is applying the gcc4 patches that
many source packages need. If the patch does not apply cleanly to a
new version of the source (or if the previous version did not need a
patch), manual intervention is needed.

However, this cannot be the only explanation. One of the notable out
of date packages is libxine1 (at 1-rc7-1 in the gcc-3.4 archive). I
just downloaded and built the source (using apt-src) for the current
version (1.0-1), and no manual intervention of any kind was required.

Given the speed at which my relativly inexpensive athlon64 3000+
cranks through compiles, I doubt that lack of build daemon resources
is the problem either.

I would be very interested in knowing how the gcc-3.4 archive is
built, what the real problem is, and if there is any way I can help
out.

Although I could see /http://debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org/debian-amd64
yesterday, now /http://debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org/debian-amd64 has

Is there a trouble or is this an intentional change?

/http://debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org/archive-structure.txt indicates

/debian-amd64 - Structure with amd64 specific sources and

recent update causes postfix hang

I updated my gcc-3.4 amd64 system today, which (among other things)
included an update to libc6: 2.3.2.ds1-20.0.0.1.gcc4.

After doing so, postfix hangs when receiving an SMTP connection.
Eventually the sender times out. Any ideas? Anybody else having such a
problem?

2004-12-31 Thread Ludovic watteaux
Hi evrybody,

I'm acctualy on the gcc-3.4 archive packages and the actual version of
Inkscape on this archive is 0.39+0.40pre3-1.

I've install the 0.40-2 version of the pure64 archive and i've still this :

"sh-3.00$ inkscape
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can
 fix it. "

but not the popup windows.

I think that the problem must be in my install packages from the gcc-3.4
database that inkscape depends.
I don't know if i must to come back to pure64.

Happy new year.

This was the first thing come to my mind. But it seems this is not the
problem:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps ax|grep evo
 8107 pts/1S+ 0:00 grep evo

Then started this evolution and it does not work. but never tried to
reboot.

Maybe this is not relevant in your case, but since a few weeks the the udev or
hotplug sub system seem to forget about loading the sk98lin module on boot.
and loads some other irrelevant net driver instead.

I resolved that by adding sk98lin to /etc/modules, and the problems
disappeared.
