Yes, the 'Packages' of your mirror doesn't seem to have 'python2.3' and
'python' depends on that.

It seems to be one those old version doesn't exist anymore, but the
new version has not entered testing (or your mirror) yet situations.

The actual file (both old and new) seem to be in the pool, so maybe the
Packages file of your mirror is out of date:

http://debian.csail.mit.edu/debian-amd64/debian/pool/main/p/python2.3/python2.3_2.3.5-8_amd64.deb
http://debian.csail.mit.edu/debian-amd64/debian/pool/main/p/python2.3/python2.3_2.3.5-9_amd64.deb

My mirror has the newer version, so you might want to try a different
mirror, or wait until it gets into your mirror.

I use ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian-amd64/debian/

Hmm, well, I just tried a whole bunch of mirrors -- specifically, I've
tried debian.csail.mit.edu, mirror.espri.arizona.edu, ftp.de.debian.org,
debian.inode.at, and ftp.jp.debian.org. All five of them had this
problem; so it seems pretty widespread.

I hadn't considered fetching the package directly, though; I went
and looked on the mirror I normally use and it was indeed there,
as you suggest above. Thanks.

 I use ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian-amd64/debian/

apt-get updating from here gives:

Failed to fetch
ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian-amd64/debian/dists/etch/main/source/Sources.gz
MD5Sum mismatch
Failed to fetch
ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian-amd64/debian/dists/etch/contrib/source/Sources.gz
  MD5Sum mismatch

which is a bit worrisome!

usb keyboard broken in linux-image-2.6.15 version 2.6.15-4

2006-02-05 Thread Bin Guo
I upgraded from 2.6.15-3 to 2.6.15-4 for my athlon64x2 box, and the usb keyboard starts acting weird: control/shift key seemsstuck or not working and the main ps/2 keyboard is also affected sometimes. Downgrading to 2.6.15-3
and the keyboard worksagain.Has anyone experience the same problem? It's strange that ia32 kernel 2.6.15-4 on my laptop works fine with the usb keyboard.-- Bin

Re: Ekiga (was Gnomemeeting) and pwc module (Quickcam Pro 4000)

2006-02-05 Thread Yannick - Debian/Linux

Hi,

Just to let you know this :

Ekiga (was gnomemeeting) is packaged for AMD64 :

AMD64 is supported for all dists. Just put
deb http://snapshots.gnomemeeting.net/debian sarge main

and install ekiga-cvs with ekiga-cvs-dbg

You also need libopal-cvs, libpt-cvs, libpt-cvs-plugins-alsa (for audio
with alsa, best choice. Works great with dmix -to have severals sound
application running at the same time/or better with jackd for
real-time), libpt-cvs-plugins-v4l2 (for video with video4lunix 2 = no
more grey borders in your video !).

Don't forget to remove previous libpt and plugins it had.

(dbg is for use with gdb to get a backtrace in case of crash, as this is
beta release sync with cvs) But don't fear it : it's working quit good !

Enjoy.

Yannick

Thanks Yannick,

But I don't want to upgrade to Sid...

Ok so.., I have dual root:
- Debian Sarge AMD64bits
- Debian sid 32bits.

I will install Ekiga in the 32bits root.

Hi,

First, Gnomemeeting is dead ; version 2.00 is named Ekiga.
Luc Saillard is working on it and added support to Video4Linux2 and
other stuffs.

You should upgrade to last pwc and try Ekiga BETA1.
More info here : http://www.ekiga.org

I've pwc too and i'm using Ekiga : works great.

Hello all,

I have a Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000. I use the Luc Saillard's pwc
module . My webcam working fine with xawtv or camstream. But not with
Gnomemeeting. I don't see my beautiful face :-) but there are
scrumble lines that move if I move my hand in front of the webcam. So
it is a format problem.

I anderstood that gnomeeting don't read yuv420p format.

I saw in the Luc Saillard web site a patch for gnomemeeting
ptlib_add_yuv420p_resizefunc.patch

But I don't know what to do?

Any idee? thanks

Help! I wanna help

2006-02-05 Thread Alexander Maringer
Hi all,

I want to help to get the 64Bit port of Debian running fine.

In the past I find from time to time programs which should be recompiled
with the /debian/rules and /debian/config from the source-files. After
recompiling them, everything works fine.

Could anybody tell me, what I have to do, to make such files avalaible for
all?

Thanks a lot

Alexander Maringer
