xfonts-utils missing?
I have seen that X11R7 is being uploaded, but I can't find xfonts-utils which seems to be a vital package. It is there for most other archs, but not amd64. Does anyone know why? Thanks Anders E. Re: Xorg 7.0 and keyboard (again)
I've had issues wih the new X mainly due to the 6.9 still being in the repository, When installing the optional X parts, protocols and protocol-devs, I had to make sure that 6.9 was not in the version anywhere. debconf half-configured etch
Hi, I did apt-get update , apt-get upgrade on etch, but the debconf postinstall doesn't continue... I tried : dpkg -i --force-all -D4422 /var/cache/apt/archives/debconf_1.4.72_all.deb got: D20: conffderef in=`/etc/debconf.conf' result=`/etc/debconf.conf' D20: deferred_configure `/etc/debconf.conf' (= `/etc/debconf.conf') useredited=-1 distedited=-1 what=2 D20: conffderef in=`/etc/bash_completion.d/debconf' result=`/etc/bash_completion.d/debconf' D20: deferred_configure `/etc/bash_completion.d/debconf' (= `/etc/bash_completion.d/debconf') useredited=-1 distedited=-1 what=2 D20: conffderef in=`/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf' result=`/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf' D20: deferred_configure `/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf' (= `/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf') useredited=-1 distedited=-1 what=2 D02: fork/exec /var/lib/dpkg/info/debconf.postinst ( configure 1.4.71 ) On /var/log/dpkg.log appears : 2006-04-16 16:23:53 status unpacked debconf 1.4.72 2006-04-16 16:23:53 status half-configured debconf 1.4.72 Nothing else happens, it stucks there. What do you recommend me to do? I'm also having similar problems with python2.3, any ideas to solve that? Xorg 7.0 and keyboard (again)
Hi, I've read everthing that have been posted about the keyboard problems. As bug #362105 was marked solved, I decided to upgrade. Everything went (about) fine, problems was: - x11-common 7.0.11 conflicts with xfs so the X server doesnt want to start because the default fonts arent available. I've reverted to 7.0.10 and reinstalled xfs. - xbase-clients update postrm wants (seems to) to remove /usr/X11R6/bin but failed because the directory was not empty. I've removed the symlink to allow the upgrade... And reinstall the symlink then because otherwise it was not possible to start X from gdm: gdm_server_spawn: '/usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -dpi 96 -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7' - And finally I managed to start gnome but I got the error message as reported in #362105 Error activating XKB configuration. It can happen under various circumstances: - a bug in libxklavier library - a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities) - X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation X server version data: The X.Org Foundation 7000 If you report this situation as a bug, please include: - The result of xprop -root | grep XKB - The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd This seems to be harmless but I've lost my compose key and xmodmap is not processed while it is in the session startup programs. I've also some problems with so-called multimedia keys on my keyboard. Here are the data asked by the gnome popup: [EMAIL PROTECTED] % xprop -root | grep XKB _XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xorg", "logiinkse", "fr-latin9", "", "" _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xorg", "logiinkse", "fr-latin9", "", "" [EMAIL PROTECTED] % gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd layouts = [] model = overrideSettings = false options = [] I use the keyboard as defined in xorg.conf: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Logitech Keyboard" Driver "keyboard" Option "CoreKeyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "logiinkse" Option "XkbLayout" "fr-latin9" EndSection Regards Jean-Luc pgpPmBMJr6NKx.pgp Description: PGP signature
Keyboard error
Hi Everything works on my computer except a single program that refuses to accept any input from keyboard. Does anyone know where I might search for the error? It is a 32 bit program.
