inotify for debian kernel

2006-06-09 Thread antongiulio05
Hi,

is it debian-kernel-amd64 patched for inotify (it seems not)? If not, how is it
possible get inotify on own system?

Thanks,
Giulio

not always, and we have alredy discussed this matter: I use proprietary
software that is furnished as source (remember that I compiled a part of it
just yesterday). Of course, this matter relies on the correct behavior of
users. The fact that such things exist, testifies that correct users do
exist, otherwise the programmer would have long starved. If proprietary
software does not furnish the source, I do not buy it.

On the other hand, as far as chemistry is concerned, the only piece of
finished professionally (academically, if you wish) fully useful software is
mpqc. And I use it with profound thanks (although not yet installed until it
is clear that there are no problems for amd64 etch; I am still in doubt = St
Thomas)

There will be source for what's in contrib {software that would be free but
for a dependency on something non-free}, but not for non-free. If it had
source, then it wouldn't be non-free .

I had problems with "deb-src http://security.debian.org etch/updates main
contrib non-free" which were cleared up when I removed the "contrib
non-free," leaving, "deb-src http://security.debian.org etch/updates main"

Is there actually source for contrib and non-free?

This question seems to be asked *constantly*. Time for an in-depth look.

Point your web browser at http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian. Now, when you
say "deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian sid main contrib non-free" in
sources.list, what is actually downloaded are the packages lists from
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-$ARCHITECTURE,
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/contrib/binary-$ARCHITECTURE
and
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/non-free/binary-$ARCHITECTURE.
The architecture bit is filled in by Apt.

These lists point to the locations on the server for the actual packages
specific to that architecture - for example, on a little endian MIPS
machine, the "gedit" package points to
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gedit/gedit_2.14.3-1_mipsel.deb
- whereas on Itanium machines, it points to
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gedit/gedit_2.14.3-1_ia64.deb,
because the packages lists downloaded by Apt tell it to do so.

There is never a technical reason to store packages for one architecture
in a different place to other architectures. There may be administrative
reasons, such as keeping an unofficial Debian-based project in an area
distinct from Debian.

All the mirrors should be carrying all architectures' versions of the
packages. Your apt will be configured to download only the ones for the
architecture on which it is running.

Could that spamassasin give a higher spam score to a message, if the

the same spam mail was sent to
debian-amd64,debian-security,debian-firewall,)
Does the spamassasin on lists.debian.org check DCC/Pyzor/Razor?

Now the security updates for etch is:

deb-src http://security.debian.org etch/updates main contrib non-free

As root in terminal:

nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Insert the mirror of choice and save. After this, update your lists:

aptitude update

And upgrade your system:

aptitude upgrade

32 bit pango doesn't work outside the chroot. You do have to use
dchroot and all the right packages installed in the chroot itself.

Could you please make for sure what should appear in /etc/apt/sources.list for
amd64 testing

SECURITY UPDATES

deb http://secure-testing.debian.net/debian-secure-testing
etch/security-updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://secure-testing.debian.net/debian-secure-testing
etch/security-updates main contrib non-free

OK?

UPLOADING/UPGRADING/UPDATING PACKAGES

please, without referring to the general page of web sites. Make a specific
example where to insert a mirror of choice.

Take, please, for a moment the position of those who do not have these affairs
clearly in mind - and how they may change - but strive to maintaining their
debian in order.

Thanks a lot for your kind attention
