Uff.

Can you tell me what the output of:

dpkg -S /usr/lib64

Is?

/usr/lib64 *should* be a symbolic link to /usr/lib on amd64 installations.
Can you also show me the output of:

ls -ld /usr/lib64

Thanks,
rob.

It has also occurred to me that you are installing the sarge package for

or a backport from unstable?

I would temporarily remove nspluginwrapper and upgrade your libc6. Then
check if there is a new version of nspluginwrapper available, and if
not, or you still have this problem after upgrading that package, file a
 bug.

 HTH,
 Andrew

This problem happened in the past already. My solution was (but please check,
what you are doing), to get into /var/cache/apt/archives and install the libc
manually with the --force-all option.

i.e.

dpkg --force-all -i libcxx.deb

But you should know, what you are doing !

Best regards

Hans

Youtube on non X86 platforms.

Hello all,

I know cross-posting is frowned upon but I just discovered a useful item that
you may like to try.

http://blog.mikeasoft.com/2006/11/24/playing-youtube-videos-without-flash/

The above link is a Greasemonkey script that plays Youtube movies through
MPlayer. You'll need MPlayer and the MPlayer Mozilla plugin as well as
Greasemonkey installed to use the script. I'm using the unofficial Marilliat
MPlayer on Etch AMD64 and it works fine for me!

  Hi guys,

Finally MSI and the forum team reached an agreement.
As you know the current forum server is incredibly fast.

MSI has done some testing the last few days with new fileservers for
LiveUpdate and downloading various stuff but they where unable to match the
  speed of the forum server.

Because they noticed we do such a good job of running the forum, they
wanted us to takeover all other servers and put everything on the forum
  server.

This includes their marketting/support websites, fileservers and all other
  forums.
We think our server can handle all this traffic with ease.

Our current traffic is between 100~200GB each month, but we think our
connection can handle all the traffic and should give better results.
MSI thinks that the current server can do all their other traffic as well.

It might slowdown the forum a little bit, but we expect no major problems.
This move will happen beginning of the second quarter this year.

Our forum server is build with this stuff:

  2x Xeon 2.8GHz
2x 15000 RPM SCSI drive's in RAID1 (but we are going to add 2 more for
RAID5 to gain about 275MB/s speed)
  2x 1GB memory reg ecc
Debian AMD64 with all the latest updates.

Tests so far has shown that we can handle MSI's traffic of 27TB/month isn't
  a problem.
So please test the speed of everything the first day of next quarter, we
are moving bits and pieces that day and hope to recieve reports on the
  speed.

There might be a nice supprice for the best reporter on how the move is
going, but I'm not allowed what that will be.

I will post shortly the email address that can be used to send in reports.

  [Edit]The move has been done.
You can use this link to test the new servers: http://www.msi.eu

Someone will have to reword the text to be more like the other entries on the
page (http://www.debian.org/users/). It's usually me who add submissions to
the Who's is using Debian? page, but I don't write them. :-)

debian-amd64 mirror plans

2007-04-10 Thread Noah Meyerhans
I'm mirrorring debian-amd64, including the unofficial sarge, on
debian.csail.mit.edu. For how much longer should that mirror stick
around? Does it need to exist after sarge has been moved off the main
mirror network or after the security team stops supporting it (1 year
from now)? Is the mirror still needed for stuff other than sarge?

intel 920 D running debian etch amd64

2007-04-10 Thread junk mail

I have a ASUS

works fine with installation and installation of programs.

But when i shutdown or reboot I get kernel panic or it just hangs and in 1
of 40 reboots it actually manage to reboot.
0Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
kernel is 2.6.18-4-amd64

I have tried all diffrent settings in BIOS with ACPI on/off and removed all
controllercards, disks and cd-rom. The system is on a single 80GB sata disk
attached to the motherboard direct.
