Kernel panic on Unload Xserver-xorg with driver i810

2007-05-03 Thread Mario Lopez

It happens only with AMD64 port, before I was using x86 port and all work
great, I have an EMT64 capable processor and runs debian great, all services
work fine except xserver-xorg with driver i810, let me say that the error is
just when unloading X, before that I can reach my desktop, use the Render,
3D accel, Composite Extension, Compiz etc but when Shuts down the Computer I
get a Kernel Panic, I think to set the driver to VESA and work but haven´t
DRI, 3D Accel, Composite etc.

My Hardware is:

- Celeron D 3.6 GHz EMT64
- ASRock 775i65G
- Intel(r) 865G Chipset
- Integrated Intel(r) Extreme Graphics 2 (intel 82865G Graphics)

The error screen message wite some like:

Well some things (like ghostscript) have different makefiles for
different OSs, but shared code. Some use configure to try to detect a
billion parameters and work everything out based on that. Either way
someone has to do the work to deal with the variations of each platform
to make it work for each. All configure can do is help detect the
platform, the developer still has to do the right thing with the values
configure provides.

Why are you using configure? autoconf may be useful at times but it
isn't a magical cure to all porting issues.

Also the contents of the mingw32 package makes me think you might want a
target of:
i586-mingw32msvc

At least the compiler executable is named i586-mingw32msvc-gcc

# i586-mingw32msvc-gcc hello.c -o hello
# file hello
hello: MS-DOS executable PE for MS Windows (console) Intel 80386 32-bit

Sounds atypical to me, as it used to take around an hour or two to fsck
the same 4 TB partition before I changed over to XFS. It's been a couple
days now for the XFS, and probably another two weeks left. I've ordered
another 4 GB of memory for the system, so it'll have 5 GB to work with
soon.

How to cross compile Debian -> Windows ???

2007-05-03 Thread Joost Kraaijeveld
Hi,

I have written a small "Hello world" program that I want to cross
compile from Debian to Windows using the Mingw32 package. I can run
"configure" both on Debian and on Windows without problem.

Can anyone give me the correct syntax for calling configure so that I
can compile the program on Linux and run it on Windows?

I tried something like:

/configure
--build=i686-pc-linux-gnu
--host=i686-pc-linux-gnu
--target=i686-pc-mingw32

but that did not do the trick on my AMD64 Debian Etch (I think the
configuration names do not match but how can I find the correct
ones???).

TIA
