Yes, there's a pdiff file corrupt. A simple workaround is to tell apt/aptitude 
to get the full files, not the pdiffs, for this one time:

aptitude update -o Acquire::Pdiffs=false

This bug happens here as well on i386 boxes, so is not amd64 specific.
I suspect this is connected with bug #549312.

Use reportbug maybe as a new bug but maybe mention possible connection 
with 549312.

I had the same problem this morning. Changing my sources.list to
ftp2.de.debian.org instead of ftp.de.debian.org fixed it.

It appears that way, yes.


But a segfault is still a bug & needs reporting. In passing, I am using 
different uk http mirrors & still have the problem.

Working again! I do not know what happened. maybe the database crashed 
somehow. I fixed it by uncommenting the entries of testing and unstable. 

An aptitude update worked, then addes stepwise testing and unstable, which the 
worked again.

Weired anyway! So just forget about this mail.
