 Hi,

Hi
I have a Tyan S2885 with 5 USB ports (two on a front panel, 3 on a back
 panel).

me too

If I connect a USB memory stick I can see lights on whatever port I
connect the stick, all connectors are working as far as the hardware is
concerned. The HAL Device Manager (0.5.8.1) shows two AMD-8111 USB
devices, both with an USB HUB interface and an USB Raw Device Access.

same problem with sid

My problem is that only the top front USB connector lets me actually use
an USB stick (or my IPod or my Palm for that matter). syslog does also
not show any messages if I put anything in 1 of the other 4 connectors.

Is there a way to make the other 4 connectors working?

I think it's a hardware problem, probably with the 2.07 Bios, because I have
got a prallel installion with win and the same problem only the one front
USB works and in BIOS too only the one on front works.

 TIA

amd64 is now available on ftp.debian.org

Please use your nearest ftp.debian.org mirror now for the etch or unstable
version of the amd64 port of Debian. The sarge version continues to be
available
from amd64.debian.net and its mirrors until sarge is archived.

but I don't found a Packages.gz or something else is that a mirror fault?

Can I use partitions on amd64 and i386?

2005-11-30 Thread Alexander Syring
Hi
I want rebuild my system and I want to install sid amd64 and sid i386 with
dual boot and/or chroot.
now my question is how many partitions I should make.
I thought it so:

/boot for both
/ one for amd64 and one for i386
/home for both
/usrfor both
/files for both
/optfor both

is that ok or does exist there any problems with one partition for /usr
or /opt to mount it into i386 or amd64?

Thanks
Alex
