ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard: comments?
Dear all, does anybody have experiences with the ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard or its Deluxe variant? Does Debian run out of the box on it? What motherboards do people use or recomment for an AMD dual core Athlon (Athlon 64 X2)? Re: Segfaults as non-root user
Hi, I also see the same problems that have been reported in the Segfaults as non-root user thread in September (http://lists.debian.org/debian-amd64/2005/09/msg00508.html). For instance with dpkg-parsechangelog, it crashes with dpkg-parsechangelog: failure: tail of debian/changelog died from signal 11 in /var/log/messages I find: Oct 19 14:55:01 ithif59 kernel: dpkg-parsechang[6180]: segfault at 00f0 rip 002a9623ae3b rsp 007fb1c0 error 4 As super-user, dpkg-parsechangelog runs fine. I am running a self-compiled 2.6.8 kernel on Tyan Thunder K8S Pro board with two opteron processors. I followed the pointers in the reply from Jochen Sprickerhof. However, I could not extract any useful information. Further, the segfaults that I see are reproducable. Are there any suggestions or workarounds? dvdrip problem
Hi, when I start dvdrip it tells me that the mandatory tools transcode and ImageMagick are missing. However, I have ii dvdrip 0.52.5-0.0 perl front end for transcode ii transcode 0.6.14-0.5 Utility to encode raw video/audio streams ii imagemagick6.0.6.2-2.4Image manipulation programs On stderr I see sh: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Is this a known problem? Are there any solytions? I have a mixed installation (with APT::Default-Release testing;). So maybe the error is caused by incompatible packages from testing and unstable. Re: dvdrip problem -- solved
Antoine Labour [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I tried some basic debugging but I'm not a perl guru. It looks like for some reason the run-time linker doesn't want to load the base shared libraries: running with strace -f shows the following. strace -v shows that dvdrip sets LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5, which is to blame for all. This comes from line 616 in /usr/share/perl5/Video/DVDRip/Config.pm: sub init_nptl_bug_workaround { my $self = shift; if ( $self-get_value(workaround_nptl_bugs) ) { $ENV{LD_ASSUME_KERNEL} = 2.2.5; } else { delete $ENV{LD_ASSUME_KERNEL}; } 1; } So you simply have to disable the Workaround transcode NPTL bugs switch in the preferences, as explained in the 2005/05/17 entry on http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip. debsig: Origin Signature check failed
Hi, I am trying to install amd64 into a chroot. base-config failed at some state because of a missing /proc filesystem. After fixing that I run base-config again, but it did not install any packages. Then I tried tried tasksel and dselect.
