Unfortunely, i can't use gnu fortran to compile the application i want (http://www.cpmd.org/), because it needs the 'Cray Pointer' extension to Fortran 77 for dynamical memory management. According to http://www.theochem.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/~axel.kohlmeyer/cpmd-linux.html doesn't handle the above extension. So I have to use Intel's compiler, that is free of charge, but not open source :-( . During the installation process, the following message appears: The installation program was not able to detect the IA32 version of the following libraries installed : libstdc++ libgcc glibc Without these libraries, the compiler will not function properly. These libraries, if not installed, can be installed from the OS discs after finishing the compiler installation. Please refer to Release Notes for more information. Can I have both versions of glibc (64 and 32) installed? Any packages names? Thanks for your answers. I would have thought ia32-libs package would take care of those. Or you can use 64bit intel fortran, which is also free (the same conditions) - in the case you want the 64bit version of CMPD Milan Melichercik

And as expected, the Release file has no amd64 entry. Is there a plan to include AMD64 security updates in the etch package repository? Or am I just looking in the wrong place? Thanks in advance, The directory does not exist. It does for sarge. Could it be that no etch security fixes have been made since amd64 packages started to enter etch? Len Sorensen As far as I know the security updates for testing branch go through unstable branch with maximum priority (approx. 2 days till they get into the testing). Re: [SOT] EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra

I have never even heard of the brand. In my book that is a bad thing since if I haven't heard of it, it is probably too obscure (at least in this part of the world) to have particularly good support. Maybe too simplistic a view, but it has served my well for many years when buying computer hardware. We will have (in our company) 2 pcs. of exactly the same model U mentioned. So probably I can later reffer - when they arrive... BTW: I have Epox MB at home (sock. A with nForce2) and no problem (and my friends have similar experiences). When U didn't hears about something it doesn't mean it is bad. Just it can be more specialised to some buyers... Or people for some (stupid) reason dont know them... As far as I know, epox MB are excellent especially for overclocking (similar or very slightly worse DFI Lanparty MB) - better than asus - no offence ;) Milan That makes me become suspicious. Am i the only one using this Board and if so why? What does everybody else know (about that Board), that keeps them from using it, that i don't? Or is it just my paranoia? I personalyl only buy Asus boards, and only the higher end models with via or nvidia chipsets. The only unsolved Issue i came across is its failure to cooperate with acpid. Which, presumably, can be dealt with by compiling a custom Kernel with apm support and using apmd instead of acpid. Re: dual opteron m/b: S2875ANRF vs. GA-7A8DW

Currently I consider two options: Tyan S2875ANRF http://tyan.com/products/html/tigerk8w_spec.html and We have (at work) this mainboard and I must say it is perfect rock-stable piece. It is used for biomolecules simulations, so most time it has full load and till now without any problem (for 3 months). So I only can give the recommendation for this one. Gigabyte GA-7A8DW http://tw.giga-byte.com/Server/Products/Products_ServerBoard_GA-7A8DW.htm They are quite similar (including a price ;) though there are some differences: 1. Form factor ATX vs. EATX (although Gigabyte claims design to fit ATX chassis screw hole, and I think it will fit my middle-tower). try to get size of MB ( e.g. from manual) and compare with your case... 2. Tyan's board has Intel 82541EI GbE LAN controller on-board while Gigabyte's possess Broadcom BCM 5705 (which one is better?). I don't know which is better, but the intel works perfectly - although tested only on Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) - no available 1 Gbps switch :( 3. Tyan has 5 PCI slots, Gigabyte - 2 PCI-X and 1 PCI (currently I don't have any PCI-X devices). 4. Tyan has integrated Firewire controller (I use firewire sometimes, currently with PCI controller). With respect to the features, I would prefer Tyan's board. But as a brand I like Gigabyte better than Tyan: previously I've had some negative experience with Tyan, and for more than a year I have been very pleased by dual-athlon Gigabyte motherboard GA-7DPXDW-P. I know only about 2 Tyan MB in my neighbourhood - without any problem. But with one Gigabyte A64 (sock. 754) MB (K8VT800) we have serious problem - it cannot run with 2 DIMM double sided modules - but ram is problemfree - I don't know if it is problem with CPU or MB, but there are some people on forum.amd.com, which complain about same or very similar problem with gigabyte MB. :( Milan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I googled, but only found USB2Serial devices, and I don't believe that would work for me E.g. company Sunsway is making PCI cards with 1 or more (up to 6 I think) RS232 ports (http://www.sunsway.com.hk/) - it uses ST Labs name for their products.
