PS: Xorg now uses roughly the same amount of cpu as before (using
RenderAccel) and I didn't notice any slowdown on my Athlon64 Mobile 3200+.

For those who want to try translucency without waiting for the ABI
transition of KDE there is an unoffical repository:

I'm running it without major problems (even if apt-listbugs listed 1
grave bug for kde-base and 1 for kdm), but sometimes glitches occur in
some windows. This version has Kwin compiled with support for Kompmgr
and there are even other necessary libraries. I think it has been
"ported" from ubuntu.

KDE module for transparency says it need kompmgr from kwin package, but
this is not included in Debian yet, right?
