NetworkManager not working

2007-08-06 Thread Juan P. Rigol Sanchez
Hi all,

NetworkManager 0.6.4 is not detecting my ethernet card (gnome) in my
new HP Compaq dc7700 pc (running lenny amd64) and shows an error icon on
the notification panel. Networking is ok but I have to manually activate
network connection in some programs such as evolution, which is a bit a
pain in the neck.
I was wondering if it can be somehow configured to detect the eth card
or just uninstalled.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Juan P. Rigol

NetworkManager is a finicky thing. Is this a new install?

NetworkManager (in the past, at least) ignores cards that are set to
automatically come up in /etc/network/interfaces. (Look for the line
auto lo eth0 and take out the interface that you want NetworkManager
to look after).

(I just got a new laptop, and it just worked for me, but this is the
first install where NetworkManager was one of the first things I
installed, so there was no manual settings for the network at all,
other than that required for the install).

Hope this helps...

Daniel Foote.

That's right. The shown above should fix the problem
