I gave up on the Debian nvidia (legacy 173) packages and installed them from the nvidia site. Opera is so slow that it's unusable here, but it works fine on my home box (i386); I haven't been able to figure out what the cause is. I have had to put off upgrading, or pull in some packages from unstable, a few times in the last few years in order to maintain the box with the software that I have installed. -Chris | Christopher Judd, Ph. Yes, I remember that it was a problem with upgrading to udev-150 something. It would cause the kernel and other packages to not be installed. -- Vikram Vincent -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-amd64-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Seems to be working well for me. I'm running unstable now, the first bits of gnome 2.30 have started to arrive. > What is the state of KD4? ( the special backport went away last time..) That I don't know. I've only had a quick look at kde4 and it seemed to me that it needed work. Re: What is the state of testing?
To get recent nvidia cards to work, i have found that unstable is required. Fortunately it's quite stable with aptitude safe-upgrades occasionally performed with a little caution. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who can't fix occasional wacky problems.
