I remember it didn't solve (I have tried it in the past). However I have solved upgrading to kernel 2.6.12 + udev + hal. Sincerely, I don't know if it was kernel-debian 2.6.11 bug... Re: burn cd/dvd: permission /dev/sg0 denied
I'm trying to burn a backup dvd of partition or single file in cd, but I got permission /dev/sg0 denied. Do you realy have a scsi dvd burner? If not kick the ide-scsi and use dev=ATA: No, I have not scsi dvd burner. I have tested with 'dev=ATA:1,2,0' but it's not work. And however working gui-s like eroaster or nero suddenly becoming unusable. In description of my udev package installed I can read: /dev/ management daemon udev is a program which dynamically creates and removes device nodes from /dev/. It responds to /sbin/hotplug device events and requires a kernel not older than 2.6.12. It confirms Sorrensen email. Is it better update to kernel 2.6.12 (from 2.6.11) or downgrade udev? The developer of cdrecord and the Linux kernel developers seem to have issues most of the time and in my experience thus far, growisofs just works. It handles both + and - media at this point, so don't let the name fool you. It's more or less completely non-intuitive that growisofs would be the replacement to cdrecord-prodvd, but there it is. For what it's worth, I still use cdrecord (non-prodvd) for burning normal CD's, but it's so rare that I ever burn CD's at all anymore anyway. And of course, what everyone else said about using ATA instead of ide-scsi at this point. You can just pass /dev/dvd or /dev/hdc or whatever directly to growisofs without the need for the SCSI emulation layer. -- Mark Nippere-contacts: 4475 Carter Creek Parkway [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apartment 724 http://nipsy.bitgnome.net/ Bryan, Texas, 77802-4481 AIM/Yahoo: texasnipsy ICQ: 66971617 (979)575-3193 MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK- Version: 3.1 GG/IT d- s++:+ a- C++$ UBL$ P---+++ L+++$ !E--- W++(--) N+ o K++ w(---) O++ M V(--) PS+++(+) PE(--) Y+ PGP t+ 5 X R tv b+++@ DI+(++) D+ G e h r++ y+(**) --END GEEK CODE BLOCK-- ---begin random quote of the moment--- Do daemons dream of electric sleep()? end random quote of the moment -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
