It's a little disconcerting seeing cc1plus using over a GB of memory and everything else on my machine swapped out. I also tried using gcc/g++ 3.2 and had the same problem. This message says it works with gcc 4.1, so I'm going to try that: http://lists.debian.org/debian-gcc/2005/07/msg00188.html -Corey -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Well, I had two concerns.. either getting OOo2-ia32 running on amd64, or getting OOo2 to compile cleanly on amd64. I got fed up of stracing oowriter and reading bugzilla archives to find out why OOo2-ia32 fails, so I'm now trying to build it. The build logs from Frederik look rather encouraging: the first builds failed because of dependancy problems which are now fixed. The latest build fails because of a syntax error which was fixed in CVS[1][2] (afaik, I'm not familiar at all with OOo). [1] http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/ooo-build/scratch/sc-vba/vbarange.cxx [2] http://lists.ximian.com/pipermail/openoffice/2005-August/001118.html Then again, I'm trying to build the source which now fails because of an "out of memory" problem, similar to what has already been reported in July by Rene Engelhard to debian-gcc@ list.[3] [3] http://lists.debian.org/debian-gcc/2005/07/msg00186.html But at this point, I guess we should continue this discussion on the debian-openoffice@ list because the maintainers have probably already ran into those problems, most are not amd64-specific. mathieu -- Mathieu Lutfy<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.bidon.ca GPG 0x5F5BCEB4 0D3B 1AEE EF9B FB34 2FE7 80EC 8E8D F00A 5F5B CEB4 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". You should work together with the Debian packaging team for OOo to get it built automatically on AMD64, if you can. It could be very interesting to know where it fails, and what you did to get it build. I would have proposed to help myself, but I'm leaving for 2 weeks of vacations starting from Sunday and I still have lots to do before leaving. I think a lot of the JRE-requiring items are optional and get disabled if you compile on a machine with no JRE installed. In response to the original question: I'm not sure what's wrong with your 32bit installation. However, OOo2 works fine here natively with no ia32-libs installed, you can just compile from the source in experimental using "apt-get source -b openoffice.org2" (assuming you have experimental deb-src lines in your sources.list). Be warned, the compile takes about 8 hours on a fast machine and once or twice the process stops and you have to fiddle source files and restart the process with dpkg-buildpackage -uc -nc, but it does actually work and I've had no problems with the resulting 64-bit oowriter2. I have the resulting 64bit debs here if anybody has somewhere I could upload them. -- Alexander Rapp -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
