Vendors often change the chips used and break support without altering the product description and sometimes even without altering the PCI IDs. I am using the sourceforge.net driver, including the tutorial on the sourceforge site. I don't have any experience with very long uptimes, so I can not say anything about the problems Jonathan had. Re: W-Lan - which to buy???
I had some problem with the drivers from sourceforge (RT2500 chipset), the wifi interface automaticly went down after a few hours so I often had to up the interface. Plus, The wifi interface is not "configurable" via the wireless shortcuts (like wireless_mode etc..) so I had to use the iwconfig command for each parameters. I haven't tried the official driver from ralink thougt. Now I use ndiswrapper instead and it works fine. I also use a D-Link DWL-G50 rev.B (rev.A is an other chipset), it's ok with madwifi. Do you use ralink's drivers on their site, or the ones maintained on sourceforge.net? Len Sorensen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? There homepage says it is "Red Hat Linux 7.1" compatible. I can confirm that a card with the RT2500 chip is working flawlessly here in AMD64. Install just as the Debian Tutorial on their site says. I have recently found out about ralink. They seem to actually have linux open source drivers for their wireless chips. A list of cards using there chips is here: http://ralink.rapla.net/ I haven't used one myself, but I have seen a few people say it worked great for them. Might be worth a shot, given open source drivers is the best way to get stuff to continue working in the future. W-Lan - which to buy???
Hi list, two month ago I bought a new notebook and installed Debian unstable AMD-64 on it. Everything is working fine. But... I would like to use wlan. I already had a Lancom Card with Prism Javelin/Xbow chip (not supported) and 32 bit Windows drivers (won't work with ndiswrapper). My only sollution so far is to buy a new wlan-card. But before I do this I wanted to ask if anyone has a 64bit system with working wlan and can recommend a card.
