Generally the proprietary drivers don't seem to get along with the frame
buffer drivers. I also find that in my experience the frame buffer
drivers for ATI don't work reliably on laptop chips. Of course if you
could get frame buffer drivers to work, you could run X on top of that
instead (minus any 3D support and accaleration of course).

My personal choice so far is to simply not buy laptops with ATI video in
them (I have no problem with intel or nvidia graphics).

Ati Radeon framebuffer on Dell Inspiron 6400

2007-03-26 Thread Ananda Samaddar
Hello everyone,

Just got Etch running on said machine. It's very fast and stable but I've got
one little problem! Does anyone know if it's possible to get the ATI Radeon
Mobility X1400 to work with the kernel Radeon Framebuffer? I had to use the
proprietary fglrx drivers to get X to work properly on this laptop so I'm
thinking maybe not. The laptop has got a widescreen (1280x800) display. Are
there any options I can pass to the kernel to enable the framebuffer?

thanks in advance,

Ananda

g77 and ATI Radeon Xpress 200

2007-02-16 Thread Syamsul Rizal

Dear All;

I'm the new comer in Debian. I quit from another distro, because that
distro has no g77 compiler for x86_64 system. It has only gfortran
(gcc compiler) which gives the different output compared to that of
g77.

I saw in debian packages there are 2 The GNU Fortran 77 compiler, i.e.
g77 (4:3.3.5-3)
g77-2.95 (1:2.95.4-22)

1. Are there suitable for x86_64 system?

2. My first experince by installing the debian distro shows that my
card ATI Radeon Xpress 200 can not drive the X11 windows. Can you
advise me the appropriate drivers. And how to intall it? My PC: Intel
Pentium D, LCD 1440 x 900 (HP w19e).

Thank you very much for your helping.

Best regards, Syamsul

ati radeon

2006-02-25 Thread Alejandro Barcena
hello,
I have an ati radeon 64 ddr vivo agp, and I want to use the
video-out/video-in capabilities of the card. The gatos proyect only
supports i386... I've tried to compile it myself but I get many warnings
and ends in error 1.

Someone has a work arround? or any kind of solution not involving a new
card lol.

thanks
Alejandro
