Bug#226131: Patch in diff, but doesn't get applied in source.make

2004-01-30 Thread Don Armstrong
reopen 226131
thanks

Looks like the patch doesn't get applied in source.make in
debian/rules, even though you've got it in debian/patches/mod-perl/

[I think this bit me when I was first testing it as well.]

Something like:

patch -d $(D) -p1 debian/patches/mod-perl/r_dir_config_fix.diff

is needed in debian/rules

I broke the package uploaded two days ago, a fixed package should hit
incoming today. (It's building now.)

Upgrading apache2-common and apache2-mpm-worker to 2.0.48-5 fixed the
problem. Looks like the dependency on libapr0 should be tightened to
avoid mixing different versions of libapr0 and the apache2 executables,
or libaprutil-0.so.0 should be linked with libgdbm3:

seed:~# ldd /usr/lib/libaprutil-0.so.0
libdl.so.2 = /lib/tls/libdl.so.2 (0x40023000)
libpthread.so.0 = /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0x40026000)

/lib/ld-linux.so.2 = /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x8000)

 U gdbm_exists
 U gdbm_fetch
 U gdbm_firstkey
 U gdbm_nextkey
 U gdbm_open
 U gdbm_store
 U gdbm_strerror

libgdbm3 was probably being brought in by the main apache2 executable,
which was the wrong version. Because of that, libapr0 was magically
depending on apache2 too, and the versions need to be exactly matched.
Making the libraries on libapr0 depend on the proprer libraries would
probably allow the current looser versioning on the dependency.

2004-01-30 Thread Mark Brown
Package: ssl-cert
Version: 1.0-7
Severity: normal

The Debconf templates for ssl-cert don't mention what is being
configured or otherwise provide context when prompting for information.
This makes them rather more confusing than they need to be - sudden
questions about things that may not have immediately obvious values
appear.

Things would probably be a lot more comprehensible if the templates were
changed to say something along the lines of 'Which X should be used by
default to generate SSL certificates'.

Bug#230419: apache: will not install unless /etc/init.d/apache pre-exists

2004-01-30 Thread David Morse
Package: apache
Version: 1.3.26-0woody3
Severity: important

Lets install apache

  abu:/var/cache/apt/archives# dpkg -i apache_1.3.26-0woody3_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 92942 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace apache 1.3.26-0woody3 (using
apache_1.3.26-0woody3_i386.deb) ...
  Unpacking replacement apache ...
  Setting up apache (1.3.26-0woody3) ...
update-rc.d: /etc/init.d/apache: file does not exist
  dpkg: error processing apache (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   apache

Can't do it. Hm. Well lets touch this initscript:

  abu:/var/cache/apt/archives# touch /etc/init.d/apache ; chmod 777
/etc/init.d/apache

Now it goes through!:

  abu:/var/cache/apt/archives# dpkg -i apache_1.3.26-0woody3_i386.deb (Reading
database ... 92942 files and directories currently installed.)

But unfortunately (for me) doesn't clobber the initscript.

  abu:/var/cache/apt/archives# cat /etc/init.d/apache

Investigate before reassigning like we have been doing hell a lot of time

If apache fails to install, that's an apache bug, not a php4-imap bug.

Bullshit. It requires you to install libapache-mod-ssl and its
dependencies on cgi-using systems, but it does not *break* anything.

libapache-mod-ssl depends against apache. the installation of apache
   breaks.

ProxyPass - proxying to server on a different network?

2004-01-30 Thread cartel
Hi all,

I have a network with a single IP address and 3 web servers, one of which
listens externally on port 80 and proxies to the rest. Previously, all three
machines were on the same internal network. I recently split the network and
now both of the web servers are on a different subnet to the rest of the
machines.

Just to make everything as clear as mud:

 DSL Router
   |
   Proxy Server
   | |
Workstations - - Servers

Despite updating DNS, and trying with IP addresses in httpd.conf, the
ProxyPass requests no longer work from outside
the network. They do work from inside however.

My VirtualHost directives look like this:

VirtualHost fant.0r.co.nz
ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ProxyPass / http://fant0r.server.lan/
ProxyPassReverse/ http://fant0r.server.lan/
ServerName fant.0r.co.nz
/VirtualHost

This worked fine on the old network layout but no longer seems to work. The
apache server running on the proxy doesnt even attemt to make connections to
fant0r on the other network.

Any ideas or help as to why this isnt working would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tom
