Bug#230738: mod_usertrack dumps core...on apache 2.0.48
Package: apache2 Version: 2.0.48-7 Tags: patch upstream sid I found this bug on the main webpages for the Apache HTTP Server Project[1], where they write that if mod_usertrack is used, apache segfaults. (I could not find this bug in the BTS for apache2, but it is solved for apache[2].) [1] http://httpd.apache.org/ [2] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=227997 A simple workaround is to add 'CookieName Apache' (or s/Apache/anything/) in the config-file, and a patch is available in the Apache's bugzilla[3] and in the apache-1.3.29.0.1 Debian package. Bug#230791: apache2-common: make-ssl-cert doesn't play nice with dpkg-reconfigure
Package: apache2-common Version: 2.0.48-7 Severity: normal I just upgraded apache2-common, and was quite surprised to be asked some questions about my 'organization', apparently for creating an SSL certificate. Since I don't use https, I had no idea about what would be valid responses, and I think I may have given the wrong answers. So, to take a second look after upgrading, I tried using dpkg-reconfigure. However, the questions are not asked again. Thus, this method of generating an SSL certificate breaks expected behavior of debconf. I for one have no idea how to generate a new certificate once I actually have a need for one. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: powerpc Kernel: Linux pomme 2.4.23-ben1-mvz1 #3 Mon Jan 5 19:04:27 CET 2004 ppc Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 Versions of packages apache2-common depends on: ii debconf 1.4.8Debian configuration management sy ii debianutils 2.6.2Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libapr0 2.0.48-7 The Apache Portable Runtime ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libdb4.24.2.52-9 Berkeley v4.2 Database Libraries [ ii libexpat1 1.95.6-6 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libldap22.1.23-1 OpenLDAP libraries ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7c-5 SSL shared libraries ii mime-support3.24-1 MIME files 'mime.types' 'mailcap ii net-tools 1.60-9 The NET-3 networking toolkit ii openssl 0.9.7c-5 Secure Socket Layer (SSL) binary a ii ssl-cert1.0-7Simple debconf wrapper for openssl ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1-3compression library - runtime -- no debconf information

It's the postinst; that's run after the deb is unpacked. I agree that it can be confusing, but it's a feature of dpkg and not something apache can do about it. -- Tollef Fog Heen,''`. silly init script borkedness

WTH? please, get rid of bashism. (yes, i'm bashing bash :) i used the old init script, since it leaked /etc/runlevel.conf stuff all over the screen when it was attempting to start up, like: [: 410: 39 - S /etc/init.d/ifupdown : bad number [: 410: 40 - 0,6 /etc/init.d/umountfs : bad number [: 410: 40 - S /etc/init.d/hostname.sh : bad number [: 410: 40 - S /etc/init.d/networking : bad number [: 410: 41 - S /etc/init.d/portmap : bad number and such nonsense. seems it's still doing it. why can't you just leave it like it was? it was working, right? *sigh* sorry to seem bitchy about this, but i don't want to piss people off here, i'm just frustrated with the recent weirdnesses. too many too fast. hugs simon (i'm not subbed to the list) signature.asc Description: Digital signature
