Bug#535849: apache2.2-common: not needed dependency on net-tools?
Package: apache2.2-common Version: 2.2.11-6 Severity: wishlist Hello! While attempting to purge net-tools (in favor of iproute) on my system one of the packages that prevented me from continuing was apache2.2-common. I've quickly looked at why it depends on net-tools and found that debian/apache2.2-common.postinst contains a reference to netstat, but it never actually uses it. (NETSTAT=netstat but $NETSTAT is never used) Could you please investigate if the net-tools dependency could be dropped? If there's any reason it's still needed I'd be happy to provide any equivalent functionality for iproute so that it can be made an alternative dependency to net-tools. -- Package-specific info: List of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.load: actions* alias auth_basic authn_file authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_user autoindex cgi dir env mime mod-dnssd negotiation php5 setenvif ssl status userdir (A * means that the .conf file for that module is not enabled in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/) -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers transitional APT policy: (500, 'transitional'), (300, 'unstable'), (100, 'experimental'), (50, 'unstable-i386'), (1, 'experimental-i386') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apache2.2-common depends on: ii apache2-utils 2.2.11-6 utility programs for webservers ii apache2.2-bin 2.2.11-6 Apache HTTP Server common binary f ii libmagic1 5.03-1 File type determination library us ii lsb-base 3.2-22 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii mime-support 3.46-1 MIME files 'mime.types' & 'mailcap ii net-tools 1.60-23The NET-3 networking toolkit ii perl 5.10.0-23 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii procps1:3.2.8-1 /proc file system utilities Versions of packages apache2.2-common recommends: ii ssl-cert 1.0.23 simple debconf wrapper for OpenSSL Versions of packages apache2.2-common suggests: pn apache2-doc(no description available) pn apache2-suexec | apache2-sue (no description available) ii elinks-lite [www-browser]0.12~pre4-1 advanced text-mode WWW browser - l ii epiphany-gecko [www-browser] 2.26.1-1Intuitive GNOME web browser - Geck ii iceweasel [www-browser] 3.0.11-1lightweight web browser based on M ii links [www-browser] 2.2-1+b1Web browser running in text mode ii w3m [www-browser]0.5.2-2.1 WWW browsable pager with excellent Versions of packages apache2.2-common is related to: pn apache2-mpm-event (no description available) pn apache2-mpm-itk(no description available) ii apache2-mpm-prefork 2.2.11-6 Apache HTTP Server - traditional n pn apache2-mpm-worker (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-apache-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#522845: apache2.2-common: please add gvfs to /etc/apache2/mods-available/setenvif.conf
Package: apache2.2-common Version: 2.2.11-3 Severity: minor gnome-vfs has been deprecated by gio/gvfs. The gvfs dav backend apparently is as sensitive as the gnome-vfs equivalent. apache2 ssl problem
Hi! I previously tried to send this to [EMAIL PROTECTED] but got a reply that it was filed under "junk" because no such bug existed (I guess because it's archived) so I'm sending it to "Maintainer for apache2-common is Debian Apache Maintainers " instead. :) Previous conversation can be found at: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=17 I've been playing with apache2 and ssl the last days here... today I ran in to the exact same problem described by Henrik. Apache refused to start with the ssl.load and ssl.conf files (unchanged from what shipped with the apache2-common package in debian testing) loaded. I also saw "Initializing OpenSSL Library" twice, and the second time it failed because of "Cannot allocate shared memory: (17)File exists". I don't really think I can contribute anything valueable to the bughunting here... I was sick and tired of this and did as Henrik and purged apache2 and reinstalled. Now it seems to be working I just post this so you'll know that Henrik isn't alone in having seen this problem. Regards, Andreas Henriksson
