fsvs error on Sheevaplug
Hi All, Have you ever successfully run fsvs on Sheevaplug? I tried to compile fsvs 1.2.3 from source but I failed to commit the very first attempt (svn server is running fine, I can checkout or commit without any problem). Debian armel package is 1.1.17 so I tried with 1.2.3 from source. === SPlug:/myrootfs# fsvs commit -m Test An error occurred: Bad address (14) in dir__enumerator: Segmentation fault === I can not perform any action commit, status...etc I also found this discussion for this bug but I can not find any patch to solve this problem: http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg846766.html Anybody here can help? Thanks and rgds, DH P/S: sorry for my English.
Sheevaplug with new kernel 2.6.39
Hi All, I tried to compile and upgraded my Sheevaplug from kernel 2.6.38 to 2.6.39 with my own compiled kernel, however I always got the mount root problem as below. This is a part of uBoot messages before kernel panic and hang, my SheevaPlug boots from USB normally with kernel 2.6.38 (I tried to compile the kernel 2.6.39 many times, the last time I used kirkwood_defconfig without changes as my kernel configuration but it doesn't work). usb 1-1: new high speed USB device number 2 using orion-ehci ata2: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl F300) Root-NFS: no NFS server address VFS: Unable to mount root fs via NFS, trying floppy. Any help is appreciated. Sorry for my English. Thanks and rgds, H.
Re: Install debian squeeze on sheeva plug
Hi Martin, I installed Debian on my SheevaPlug by manual method and it has run for 6 months without problem. but I found that the base system is 5.0.4 (Lenny, 2010-06-13). Do I need another base system for Squeeze or they just have differences in kernel/ramdisk/apt-source ? may I ask where I can get the base system for Squeeze? Thanks and rgds, DH. Re: How to install in a Seagate FreeAgent DockStar?
Hi Michelle, To install Debian to Seagate Dockstar is quite easy except for the Uboot flash part, please refer to the following link for new Uboot (mtd0) that support dual boot http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,210 I have never tried with JTAG on Seagate but the pin for Serial Access you can take a look here: http://www.yourwarrantyisvoid.com/2010/07/21/seagate-dockstar-add-an-accessible-serial-port/ Frankly, Seagate is SheevaPlug with less RAM, so you can use the SheevaPlug's kernel with it (currently I run 2.6.35.4 on Seagate Dockstar NAS as well as SheevaPlug, they work just fine). BTW, have anyone successfully built kernel 2.6.35.4 for Terastation Pro II? I built 2.6.34 for it without any problem but failed with 2.6.35.2 under the same setup (everything is the same, devio stuff is not changedetc), UBoot just tell me when load 2.6.35.2 that it doesn't support for that variant processor ...blah blah . Does my devio stuff fail? Sorry for my English. Linkstation Quad 2.6.34 patch !
Hi All, I'm plan to compile the new kernel for my Buffalo Linkstation Quad ARM and really need a patch for the kernel 2.6.34, anybody can point me a direction in this. Since this is the new one in ARM mach_type, I just aware that I need modify these files in source tree to get this done. edit file: arch/arm/mach-orionx5/Kconfig === add config for menuconfig edit file: arch/arm/mach-orionx5/Makefile == add new setup file to make file - i.e. lsql-setup.o edit file: arch/arm/tools/mach-types == add new mach_type for ls_ql i.e. 3000 add file: arch/arm/mach-kirkwood/lsql-setup.c == I don't know whether to start, any body can help? I get stuck with the last one, the setup file, since I'm newbie to kernel hacking, much appreciated if anybody can point me to the very basic thing about how to write the setup (do I need to open my Linkstation to get the information before I can write a patch for it?). Thanks and rgds, H.
Re: sheevaplug: detect disks failure
Hi Christoph, Just sharing. I tried the automatic process but failed, too. It doesn't detect any USB or external USB HDD that I have. So I've gone through the manual installation and it works fine. I really don't know what is the problem with the automatic installer, but never mind, you can install it manually in 15 minutes. http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/unpack.html Then I upgrade to 2.6.34 that is available on sheeva-with-linux.com, it's working now. Hope this help.
