2.2r3-boot-floppys are not able to mount an nfs-share

2001-04-20 Thread Erik Tews

Problem:

I am not able to mount an nfs-server during install to access my
debian-mirror. If I or the installer trys to mount any nfs-share mount
returns: Invalid argument.

Possible solution:

The 2.2r3 floppys have got busyboy 0.43. I downloaded the busybox 0.43
tar.gz and tryed to compile it. It fails on potato and sid-systems whith
nfs or mount-related error-messages during compiling it. A friend told
me that busybox 0.51 compiles fine on his potato-system. So please
create a new set of boot-floppys with an updated version of busybox.

d-i has an autobuild of all but the disk images, which you need root to
build. I think the boot-floppies build process is less seperated, and
you probably need real root (not fakeroot) in several places.

I wouldn't run an auto-update-and-build as root on a box I maintain, but
YMMV. :-)

Please confirm the status by yourself, and if you find the solution,
please let us know.

I have checked on my system, and bogl-bterm does not work without
libutf8 even with libc6 2.2-4.

I know that information, and found that is not so at least on my system.

Regards.

Either way. Incomplete translation is better than no translation. But sending
it in pieces creates more work for those applying the patches. If you are
concerned that you may have done something wrong and you want to have it checked
out before you continue (I can at least test it to make sure it compiles and
then comes up looking like greek.), then by all means send the files over.

Hello again and thanks for the advices,
I have completed the dbootstrap.po file that needed translation by almost 50%
is it time to start testing this stuff or should I wait to complete
the translation?

I've rebuilt them and upload them to http://people.debian.org/~ezanard
Are they ok to upload them to woody?

This is correct. I stopped using libutf8 when I upgraded my libc6 to
2.2. The main difference with using glibc is that you have to set up
the locale (by editing /etc/locale.gen and running localegen), whereas
libutf8 just detects the mention of "UTF-8" in the appropriate
environment variable (LANG or LC_*).

The implementations are not identical, of course, so it is possible
that using glibc instead of libutf8 will expose a bug that was
previously hidden.
