Menutest scripts shouldn't use debconf.  IMHO.

That would only redirect stdout to /dev/null, while stderr is redirected
to the old stdout.  What you want is

Maybe main-menu shouldn't be fixed, as much as a menutest should either
direct all its output to /dev/null or use debconf...

In any case, the code right now is broken, since the text buffer
containing '>/dev/null' is used for stat() as well as system().

Install the kernel-headers- for the kernel you are running
and point the build at those headers (they will be somewhere like
/usr/src/kernel-headers-.

Okay, I fixed everything but wonder how to test it.  It looks like

I might get to it later in the day, but I'm really not in the mood for more
