Using the daily d-i build with a businesscard image to install lenny,

My desired configuration is as follows:

/boot unencrypted
loop-aes #1 AES256, GPG key
loop-aes #2 AES256, random key

d-i tells me that it is preparing #1 but after generating enough randomness
it fails with "An error has occured while configuring encrypted

   * For hd-media installs the module loop will already be loaded, which
prevents loop-aes from being loaded. Attempt to replace loop with loop-aes
by unmounting the CD image, replacing the module and remounting the image.
As losetup is not available, we cannot check what exactly is loop-mounted,
so we just assume that loop is only used for a CD image.
Many thanks to Nemui Ailin for identifying the issue. Closes: #434027.

Comments/Problems:
Chose third option on filesystem partitioning and creating:
LVM+encryption; chose to install everything in one partition (beginner's
recommendation); everything fine this far.

Was asked for encryption of swap file. Chose "yes" for encryption. Got
asked for entering key. On that screen I changed my mind - did not want
to use swap encryption. I chose "go back" (or what soever it is in the
English version). Error: The screen with the choise "Swap encryption yes
or no" (something alike) did not come up. Instead install continued
(with now undefined values for encryption of swap?) and died at 82% when
writing "uswp... something". Did not recover for 50 min. Terminated
install. System did not look bootable.

With best regards,
Artus

I've tried reproducing this bug, but no luck. After a review of
the relevant code I'm fairly certain that this should be caught by
the existing checks for unencrypted swap. There is not much else
we can do without more information, so I'm closing the bug.

The naming of crypto devices as hda1_crypt causes df to use two
lines for each filesystem. Please consider using just cr_hda1
instead.

I agree. The issue exists with LVM and other setups too, and is
nothing we can fix by avoiding long names in partman-crypto only.
If it boils down to a question of aesthetics, I must say that
cr_hda1 feels less aesthetically pleasing to me since it is less
"discoverable" and expressive, thus closing.

Bug#410596: marked as done

2007-08-12 Thread Markus Kaukonen
Dear Sir/Madam,

I have the same symptoms of this bug as described in
http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2007/02/msg00924.html

The iso images I tried were
debian-40r0-i386-netinst.iso
debian-edu-etch-i386-netinst-3.0r0.iso

My laptop is a very old acer extensa 367T with 32MB memory.

Is the iso image with the bug fix available somewhere?

Regards, Markus Kaukonen

Assuming you are talking about PCI or USB devices, yes. But someone
need to get the required information into discover-data.

Yes. Just run discover-pkginstall as root.
