daily builds failing since 20100803

2010-08-13 Thread helix84
Hello d-i developers,
I just noticed that d-i daily builds have been failing since 20100803.
You probably know that, I just wanted to make sure.

Regards,
~~helix84

P.S. I'm not on the list.

 Hi,

 I found d-i in 2010-08-09 weekly build[1] couldn't create reiserfs fs

Is reiserfs not supported any more in squeeze installer? I think it's
 better squeeze installer
still supports it but gives a warning saying reiserfs is deprecated,
 reiserfs support can be
dropped entirely in next Debian release.

The needed udeb, namely partman-reiserfs, is now
priority extra so you need to manually load it in expert mode before
being able to create a partition with a reiserfs file system on it.

Thanks for your remind!

I know many people here use reiserfs because of its high performance
on small files,
we have many legacy reiserfs file systems, so I think it's not user
friendly to put partman-reiserfs into
priority extra, it's better to only mark reiserfs deprecated in list
of fs formats and drop it in next Debian
release.

I just checked the installation manual [1], it does refer to this
problem, but I guess many
people won't read the *new* manual at all :-(

The Neo Freerunner possesses two nics, the first one being the wifi chip, which
driver won't ever go upstream.
The other is its USB port thanks to the g_ether module, which is already
mainline since at least 2.6.32.
So, please add g_ether to nic-usb-modules.

The daily squeeze installer builds aren't working on my NSLU2 (armel).
I think that the problem is related to bug 534324 [1]. The USB disk
enclosure I am using uses a Cypress chipset, and the installer image
doesn't include ums-cypress.ko, which seems to be required with 2.6.32
for this chipset. Therefore, the installer does not find any disks
onto which the operating system can be installed.

Bug#592899: cdebconf: please move newt frontend to its own binary package

2010-08-13 Thread Carsten Hey
Package: cdebconf
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

cdebconf currently depends on libnewt and libslang2 because of the newt
frontend.

On Sid both libraries together require more than two MB disk space:

$ dpkg -s libslang2 libnewt0.52 | egrep 'Package:|Installed-Size:'
Package: libslang2
Installed-Size: 1264
Package: libnewt0.52
Installed-Size: 960

Please consider splitting the package to get rid of these dependencies
in minimal installations.

I thought about something similar to debconf-i18n and debconf-english:

Package: cdebconf
Depends: cdebconf-newt | cdebconf-tiny, ...

This will of course only become relevant after it became possible to
replace debconf with cdebconf.

Regards
Carsten

I think it's due to dpkg upgrade, and especially because of the commit

and the fact that installer/build/util/get_packages get its package versions
from the filename, which are escaped (a:b becomes a%3ab).

I've not seen any complaint out there, so, maybe I'm the only one affected?
 Weird.

No, only people have been complaining to debian-cd and my inbox. :-P
Thanks for the patch.

Bug#592924: os-prober MINIX detection

Package: os-prober

The MINIX detection criterial is fairly old, no recent MINIX installation can

As we are developing some new boot features of MINIX (Multiboot compliant for
example), we are also
trying to make configuring GRUB easier, as a result the detection of os-prober
