 Hello good people,

Having uploaded cdebconf 0.156 yesterday, I started pushing a few
patches, for packaging and implementing features. More specifically,
what's now in git should correctly guess the name of the package being
configured, load the templates file, run the .config file, and create
the database files if they don't already exist, so it should be actually
usable in most cases (still missing the escape CAPB and
dpkg-preconfigure, but I'm working on them).

Wow, that is a significant milestone.

Maybe you could write up a short tutorial on how to replace debconf with
cdebconf on a running system and use it when installing packages with
apt?

So, AIUI, there isn't really a way for me to do this, since all
 bootloader installers have hardcoded logic to decide they want to run;
so if I want to make this work correctly (so that none of the
bootloaders will attempt to write to disk by default), I'll have to
patch each and every one of them myself. Hrmpf.

There is a nobootloader package that can be made to run in preference to
other bootloader installers. This can be enabled by setting
grub-installer/skip, lilo-installer/skip, etc.

seems to be pretty much in the same boat, in that each of the bootloader
installers implements their own logic to come up with a reasonable
 kernel command line.

They all call user-params, which uses debian-installer/add-kernel-opts.

BUG: Installer sources.list for the daily testing build

2011-06-30 Thread Svante Signell
Hi,

I tried one of the daily built netinst.iso files:
debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso from June 28.

Installation went well, but when configuring apt the installer added
these two entries to sources.list:
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main

Additionally the wheezy was tried for a local mirror:
deb http://ftp.se.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main

As wheezy is not yet released, no main archive (or mirror archive) named
wheezy exists! Please either correct the archives, or change to testing
(or rolling when launched) until wheezy is a reality.

Thanks!

That one works fine.

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2011-02-05 05:39 testing -
wheezy

That's what I see on the mirrors.

testing is a symlink that is a moving target. wheezy very much exists and
is currently referred to by testing but will someday instead be referred
to by stable until someday it becomes old-stable and eventually goes away.

Everything there is fine, except your backwards claim about wheezy
not existing.
